SGSS has an immediate on-site or remote full-time opening for a Software Engineer (SWE) supporting a program on a secured DOD client site located at Blossom Point, MD. The SWE will be responsible for the development of Mission Unique Software (MUS) for the Neptune satellite control software suite. This is to support development and testing of spacecraft systems, as well as operational programs. The successful candidate should have the ability to learn unique software design methodologies quickly and apply them to new development using core programming languages.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide software development primarily in C, C++, and python on physical machines, VMs, and virtual cloud servers (AWS).

MUST be self-motivated and able to effectively work remotely as needed

Document new code and bugs in an online system such as JIRA, confluence, or equivalentParticipate in software and systems design reviews as well as identifying, planning and integrating new code technologies for desired performanceSupport building and deploying MUS in various linux environments such as Openstack, AWS, Vsphere, using kubernetesProvide direct mission software support in classified and unclassified environmentsAdhere to Change Management and Incident response protocols and proceduresProven ability to work multiple tasks and programs simultaneously and deliver on timeDevelop and maintain documentation about the current software design and implementation

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Active DoD Secret clearance, with ability to obtain Top Secret clearanceMust be a US citizenExperience developing on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or similar operating systemsExperience with Go4+ years' experience with programming languages such as C, C++, and JavaExperience writing scripts (examples: shell scripting, Python, etc.)Familiarity with software configuration management tools (examples: git, BitBucket, Jira, etc.)Knowledge of Agile processesExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively gather information, report status, and record detailed task closure informationSelf-started who is results oriented and can deliver tasks independentlyDesire to work in the space industry developing satellite command and control systems for test and operationsB.S. in relevant field (Comp. Sci./Engineering, Software Engineering) or 8+ years relevant experience may be substituted for educationAbility to work independently on a wide variety of given tasks with minimal directionAbility to research new technologies for customer environment to include working with SWE management

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to obtain TS/SCIKnowledge of Neptune softwareAtlassian product suite experienceKnowledge in AWS EC2 and VPC environmentsExperience developing containerized applications and deploying to cloud environments using KubernetesSystem Administrative experienceProgramming Languages: Shell Scripting (bash, csh)MySQL application and database system support experienceLinux administration expertise in RHEL 7 and 8 environment
