Position Summary: This position will offer students the opportunity to build on knowledge obtained from their coursework and apply it to a real-world transportation and logistics setting. Interns will be exposed to route analysis, vehicle and driver assignments and review schedule for improvements. They will be introduced to warehouse operations to ensure best practice truck loading logic. They will experience weekly mentoring on relevant topics within the industry and have the chance to observe all aspects of the regional transportation network to include routing, delivery window efficiency, territory planning, assignment of drivers and vehicles, usage of equipment and customer service.What you'll do:During the internship, you will assists with planning and implementing vehicle scheduling, resource allocation, routing, dispatching, and communication functions in accordance with established policies and objectives to optimize economical utilization of company assets.Assist the Transportation team with route development and stop logic and ensure customer service levels are at or above company expectations. Collaborates with Fleet Team to match available vehicles with delivery requirements, distance requirements and customer requirements.Communicates load requisites, routes sequencing, customer accommodations and schedules with the Night Warehouse Management Team to prioritize order selection process.Performs daily maintenance of and incorporates real time recommendations from drivers and sales team to optimize routing performance. Road net® systemAssist with pick tickets as orders are entered, observe problem resolution on pick requirements submitted passed cut off times.About you:Enrolled in an accredited university program seeking an Associates or a Bachelor of Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Must be a junior or senior in college or university.Strong attention to detail, problem solving, prioritization and organizational skills.Ability to work in a team environment and possess strong interpersonal communication skills. Applicants must be located in Maryland. Strong computer skills overall including experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.Tolerant of different range of work environment conditions.#LI-SL1#LI-Onsite
