Job Description SummaryGE Vernova's Power Conversion Division provides Electrical power conversion systems for various renewables, industry, marine, and Oil & Gas applications. Typical scope includes MV & LV drives, motors, transformers, E-house, switchgear, and control as well as the associated power systems engineering.The SCADA Automation Controls Engineer's role would be to develop system solutions in multiple programming languages for both the metals, marine and general industrial markets. In this role you will be responsible for complex project execution with long-term business implications, provide technical support to sales and customers, developing of software, and hardware solutions, while following the completed and tested design to the field for installation.Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with engineers and designers to understand system functionalities and user requirements.Design and develop user-friendly HMI screens using industry-standard software.Implement effective data visualization techniques to present critical operational information clearly.Conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure HMI functionality meets quality standards.Create and maintain detailed documentation for future reference and knowledge transfer.Write efficient SQL queries to retrieve and manipulate data from relational databases.Develop core HMI functionalities using object-oriented programming languages like C++.Utilize VBA scripting to automate repetitive tasks and enhance user interaction features.Stay updated on the latest HMI/SCADA technologies and best practices.Implement and configure OPC UA communication protocols for seamless data exchange.Configure Hypervisor environments to host HMI applications and ensure optimal performance.Apply networking concepts to establish reliable communication pathways.Integrate historian software for collecting and analyzing historical process data.Develop custom scripts in Python to extend HMI system functionality.Implement cybersecurity measures to safeguard the HMI system.Work with cybersecurity experts to assess and address potential vulnerabilities.Document cybersecurity configurations, policies, and procedures.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)Familiarity with basic programming concepts and experience with HMI development tools.Exposure to function block and ladder programming environments for industry PLCs and/or SCADA systems.Desired CharacteristicsUnderstanding of human factors engineering principles and their application in HMI design.Strong scripting and programming background.Basic knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts.Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards applicable to automation and equipment.Exposure to PLC programming packages such as P80i, GEMCAD, S7, RsLogix, CodeSys, etc.Exposure to SCADA packages such as Wonderware Archestra, iFix, Cimplicity, Proficy Machine Edition, Citect, PcVue, Iconics, etc.Interest in industrial or marine automation industry.This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
