Round Mountain and the nearby Bald Mountain mine make up Kinross' Nevada operations.The Round Mountain mine is an important contributor to the Nye County economy and, working with local stakeholders, has helped achieve significant improvements in healthcare and education in the area.Job DescriptionThe Leave and Recruiting Specialist will oversee and administer leave requests and accommodations requiringspecialized attention, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans withDisabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans. The Leave and RecruitingSpecialist will provide administrative support to the Recruiter, including oversight of recruiting procedures and practicesfor hiring hourly employees. Thiis position will report to the Round Mountain HR Superintendent and will provides servicesto Round Mountain and Bald Mountain mines.Job Responsibilities1. Communicates with employees regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules. Ensuresthat employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required toqualify for and to take leave.2. Handles the FMLA leave administration process from the employees initial notice of the need for leaveto the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leaveeligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, andaccounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.3. Maintains reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return towork; relays communication between employees, HR Business Partners and their managers during leavewithin reason.4. Advises managers and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off, workerscompensation, and short-term and long-term disability benefits.5. Oversees the return-to-work process for employees returning from extended FMLA, workerscompensation, or other leave(s).6. Collaborates with HR Business Partners to facilitate other leave requests, which may includeaccommodation requests under the ADA. Consult management throughout reasonable accommodationrequest process, ensuring the company is providing accommodations in accordance with ADA.7. Administers other company time-off programs as assigned in accordance with internal policy andapplicable laws.8. Drafts and/or recommends revisions to company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal, state,and local laws and regulations.9. Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance withspecified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.10. Preserves confidentiality of employee medical documentation and files.11. Investigates and resolves pay discrepancies related to leave.12. Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA, ADA, andFLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Page 2 - Administrative Assistant—Human Resourcesstate and local laws.13. Responsible for assisting with all recruiting functions, including internal postings for the Kinross Nevadaproperties to include Kettle River and KGUSA. Provide timely feedback to candidates and hiring managersthroughout the recruitment process.14. Prepares and communicates offers and supports candidates through the pre-employment process.15. Provides reports to the HR Business Partners and HR Superintendent as requested.16. Oversees JD Edwards data entry consistency and audits regularly to ensure accurate reporting, includingaccurate and timely changes to employee leave status.17. Punctuality and regular attendance required.18. Compliance will all company policies and procures including, but not limited to, safety, confidentialityand environmental policies.19. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.20. Estimated site to site travel time: 10%21. Estimated remote work: 50%22. Possession of a valid driver's license issued by state agency or must be able to pass driver competencycourse and exam.23. Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct hazards.24. Work without risk of harm to self and others.25. Consistent exercise of discretion and judgment in job performance.26. Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field preferred.Two years of human resource experience preferred.SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.Completion of specialized certification or training on FMLA/leave administration a plus.Three to five years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.Extensive knowledge of the leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, ADA, and other applicable laws.Solid understanding of HR related policies, practices, and procedures.Advanced spreadsheet skills with the ability to create new analytics and troubleshoot errors.General understanding of mining operations, as well as limited understanding of milling and maintenance operations.Advanced working knowledge and skill with applications with word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.Possesses good interpersonal skills.Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all level of employees and management.FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Page 3 - Administrative Assistant—Human ResourcesDemonstrates strong administrative, organizational and technical writing skills.Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and with others in a team environment.Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends.Progression through wage scale is contingent upon satisfactory completion of attached checklists.Reporting Relationships• Typically reports into the HR Superintendent.Legislative RequirementsBackground Check requiredUS work permit requiredLanguage RequirementsEnglishTravel RequirementsAbility and willingness to travelRequire travel to operational site(s)Kinross is a Canadian-based global senior gold mining company with operations and projects in the United States, Brazil, Mauritania, Chile, and Canada.
