Black Rock City (BRC) Storage helps hundreds of Theme Camps minimize their carbon footprint, reallocate resources to art and communal offerings, and reduce trucking to Black Rock City. The BRC Storage Team often collaborates with the Placement team. At the end of the day, all teams are here for the same reason: to build Black Rock City. We seek volunteers with a passion for collaborating and supporting our partner teams. We will provide you space in our BRC Storage Team's camp to pitch a tent or park a trailer, three meals a day from our wonderful commissary, and daily showers, etc.
Dates and time frame of role:
Before Burning Man — local 40+ hrs per week beginning July 30 During Burning Man — not applicable (your last day is Saturday, August 26) Must-have talents***
A deep love for theme camps A commitment to reducing Burning Man's impact on the environment The ability to both ask for and receive help You'll need to be able to read and understand 'hand-drawn' maps Always driving safely. Always. This is a mentally & physically demanding role that requires being able to lift 30 pounds, endure extreme heat & scorching sunlight, and become one with the dust Be ready to camp on the Playa for a month or longer Nice-to-have talents ***
Google Suite Previously attended Burning Man and familiar with its culture Smooth operator and comfortable with small talk Being weird and comfortable with counter-culture List of potential tasks ***
Driving crew to theme camps for surveying/flagging and camp evaluations Keeping fleet vehicles secure while crew follow-up with Storage participants Stocking fleet vehicles with proper gear and supplies at the beginning of each shift Fueling staff vehicles at both the beginning and end of each shift Putting gear and supplies away at the end of each shift Being open to all sorts of tasks that pop-up unexpectedly Assisting with three-point survey equipment Assisting with security banding and tracking The deadline to apply for this role is 5:00 pm Pacific on June 16th 2023 .
