As we grow and strengthen our natural resources work, Prairie Engineers is adding a Wetland Scientist with a passion for Natural Resources to our team to lead our Waters of the U.S. delineation and other natural resources projects. You will have experience delineating wetlands and other regulated resources according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Wetlands Delineation Manual and Regional Supplement. You should also have experience coordinating with a variety of clients and regulatory agencies, interacting with multi-discipline project teams, and writing reports and technical memorandums. What you will do: Lead Waters of the U.S. delineation and other natural resources projects and personnel including mentorship of junior environmental staff Prepare and submit documents compliant with Section 404 of the Clean Water Act Contribute to preparation of documents compliant with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Principles, Requirements, and Guidelines (PR&G) for Water and Land Related Resources guidelines, including Categorical Exclusions (CE), Environmental Assessments (EA), Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) Occasional travel required for fieldwork What we expect: Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant environmental discipline
Experience: 2+ years' experience in inland and/or coastal resource delineations; experience performing jurisdictional determinations and 404 permitting applications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong attention to detail
Safety: Valid driver's license and insurable driving record
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ideals: Professional, positive attitude with a strong work ethic
Teamwork: Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Responsive: Communicate openly, proactively, and promptly What you might add: More Education: Master's degree in natural resources, botany or related biological field
More Experience: 6+ years' experience in Environmental Planning; experience with GIS programs, data sources, and resource impact analysis
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Understanding of the applicable wetland related regulations and delineation protocols in multiple states; able to drive/navigate in remote locations
