Job Summary: The student intern will be responsible for conducting research in agroforestry systems. Knowledge Skills and Abilities: The student intern must have good writing and verbal communication skills. The student intern must demonstrate competency in the use of computers and electronic outreach methods. The student intern must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and other partners involved in the center's research and production activities. The student intern must demonstrate effective time management skills. Must have excellent customer relations, organizational and interpersonal skills. Essential Job Functions : The student intern will conduct research and will assist with the following (Agroforestry Field Plot):
Implementation of horticulturally based agroforestry and its impact on environmental quality experiment research plan, and perform all farm-related activities in connection with the operation of the research experiment: Assist with all crop production practices. Assist with collecting and analyzing soil and waters samples. Assist with entry of analyzed data from collected samples. Assist with harvesting of crops. Assist graduate students in field work. Assist with the upkeep of the research facility and all farm equipment. Qualifications: Student Research Assistant must possess the following: Must be enrolled in Environmental Science or Plant and Soil Science in the College of Agricultural and Applied Sciences (CAAS).Have a GPA of 2.5 or above. Must maintain a full-time status (12 hours of enrollment). Must be willing to learn. Must be dependable. Must be able to complete projects by deadline. Posted Salary Range: $10.00 per hour
