Terms of Employment:
Regular, full-time, twelve-month grant position with university benefit package located within the Title III office in the Ryerson Hall Building on the Alva Campus of Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Note: This position is only available during the five-year grant term. Currently in year 3 of the 5 year grant term. Regular, full-time employment with RUSO (Regional University System of Oklahoma) Duties and Responsibilities:
Implement and coordinate activities in accordance with LASSO Project Implements and manage progress of Complete College America's Purpose First strategy Establishes and maintains good working relationships with university staff and faculty Assists students in building strong link between education and career goals Directs students to other campus departments as needed (e.g. Health Services, Counselling and Disability Services) Compiles, completes, and documents student interviews and career aptitude assessments and maintains accuracy of files with clear and updated materials on contacts each semester Monitors quality and effectiveness of career coaching and makes recommendations to the project director Collaborates with FY experience instructors to integrate career exploration/discussion into course and leads FYE course presentations on topics related to meta majors, aptitude assessments, and understanding job market data Manages and tracks contacts and interventions for assigned students flagged as at-risk through EAS Facilitates awareness of LASSO Center by promoting the department's services through design, facilitation, and presentation of institutional messages to students and university personnel for career coaching Maintains current knowledge and competencies in career counseling through self-directed professional reading, formal professional development opportunities, and professional contacts with colleagues Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required. Desired qualities include: knowledge and experience in working with underprepared students and underrepresented population; ability to work with a diverse student population; working knowledge of advising and counseling procedures at the university level; well-developed computer skills including Microsoft Office.
