Position Summary The Senior Programmer Analyst is responsible for defining and analyzing business systems-related issues and solving, designing, and implementing solutions that address those issues. In addition, the Senior Programmer/Analyst supports the college's integrated ERP by developing, testing, debugging, implementing, and supporting increasingly complex computer programs using the delivered software development tools. Responsibilities also include applying vendor-delivered maintenance, assisting customers in understanding system functionality, preparing project requirements and technical documentation, and leading/participating in meetings with the customers and technical staff. This position requires training others, such as customers and technical staff. The Senior Programmer/Analyst works with 3rd Party Vendors to ensure that business process needs are met.

The college will annually review this restriction and, if appropriate, expand the list of states of employment eligibility. Job Duties and Responsibilities Interaction with end users. Assist users with understanding system functionality so that Colleague can be used as delivered when possible. Train users on new or modified functions. Meet in an open forum to discuss routine user system modifications, potential system enhancements, or new initiatives to be investigated and/or pursued. Provide leadership in group meetings by setting the agenda and ensuring the goals of the meeting are met. Assist with analyzing and testing periodic system events that require special user interaction, such as year-end, ad-hoc requests etc.
Monthly review of vendor-supplied updates for potential changes affecting workflows/processes currently in production. Research new functionality delivered by Ellucian, work with customers to review changes, re-apply customizations already in use, and confirm testing is completed.
Working with customers to plan, modify, test, document, and debug the Colleague system to meet the requirements of a 2-year college instead of the delivered 4-year college. All system enhancements must be performed in strict accordance to ADS standards, as well as the SDLC (Systems Development Life Cycle).
Perform analysis and design of proposed additions or changes to the existing system. Lead and participate in project planning sessions to analyze and develop requirements while applying best practices and insight into the college's business processes.
Preparing documentation for proposed additions or changes to the existing system. Preparation of scope and requirements documentation for all new requests is an essential step in getting complete agreement from all stakeholders. Likewise, creating technical documentation for all changes to the system (new or modified) is essential in facilitating future modifications. In addition, provide end-user documentation of all custom-delivered processes. This should include project requirement documentation for users, as well as technical documentation intended for IS use.
Troubleshooting end-user issues pertaining to our ERP and CRM systems, including any interacting 3rd party systems. This includes help-desk tickets, ad-hoc reports, daily automated job output review, customer support calls requesting assistance with daily tasks or interacting with outside business entities. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree
Minimum 7 years of experience in the following areas:
Programming in a high-level computer language such as COBOL, C++, Visual Basic, and/or UniBasic.
Working technically in relational databases and Windows-UNIX/Client-Server environments.
Programming in third-party reporting languages.
Installing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting vendor-developed administrative systems in an academic environment.
Performing large systems/business analysis and design of computer systems, preferably in higher education.
Managing software projects.
Working on multiple projects simultaneously.
Creating technical and end-user documentation.
Producing excellent oral and written communication.
Working both independently and as a team player.
Providing strong customer service with the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with students, faculty, staff, vendors, and the public. Preferred Qualifications: Programming skills in UniBasic, Envision Toolkit, or Colleague Studio.
