SUMMARY: The Position of Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for organizing activities for the development, implementation, and maintenance of engineering processes, improving quality and productivity. Troubleshoots problems with production, takes corrective action, and evaluates operational feasibility requirements of new equipment or upgrades to existing equipment. Works with customers and leads a cross functional team to drive successful new product launches.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ( includes the following but other duties may be assigned) Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods increasing production efficiency, quality, capacity, and utilization by reviewing current processes and suggesting improved methods for process optimization Manage new product launches Estimate production times, labor requirements, and related costs for quoting Work with maintenance personnel to prevent problems with machinery and related equipment Determine and eliminate root causes and reduce occurrences in the manufacturing process Ensure that all manufacturing product specifications are developed and in place before released to production Provide technical training, guidance, and resource support through participation in process improvement initiatives Implement cost reduction efforts for improved quality and productivity through tooling/equipment and process engineering Work with customers to develop and make improvements Responsible for supporting sales by identifying tooling and equipment needs Assist with training set-up associates on new product launches to meet target date Assist Quality with support for validations, first articles, PFEMAs, DOEs, and inspection criteria Must be a team player with effective communication skills JOB FUNCTIONS / ATTRIBUTES: Support current and new manufacturing processes and machinery introductions Work with set-up and production associates to best utilize tooling and minimize down time Responsible for specifying and the requisition for machinery needed for production Stay informed concerning new manufacturing technologies and equipment to manufacture and reduce cost through efficiencies Flexibility and attention to detail Additional responsibilities including attending industry trade shows, professional trade shows, sales, and traveling, as required QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, or 5 years' related experience and/or training OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking. Work with mathematical concepts, such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Experience in manufacturing processes for insert molding, highly desirable Computer literacy, including basic skills with Microsoft Word and Excel, plus the ability to use CAD software Knowledge of machine tool design, software application, mold design, and ability to read blueprints and import solid models Mastery of micrometer, precision scale, caliper, and other test/inspection equipment required PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
