Newmont's industry leading performance is reflected through high standards in environmental management, health and safety for its employees and creating value and opportunity for host communities and shareholders.About this roleThe Senior Manager, SAP Basis bears overall responsibility for day-to-day management and oversight of SAP Basis teams supporting 160+ systems across global finance, HR, Supply Chain, Asset Management and various corporation functions. This role will be accountable for developing a technology roadmap, optimize the SAP systems landscape strategy and identify opportunities to create a lean, modern and robust systems footprint. This role requires a commitment to operational excellence, service management and continuous improvement.. This person must a passion for problem solving, strong relationship skills, application development experience and the ability to collaborate cross functionally.Your role consist ofStrategicProvide leadership, direction and mentorship to the SAP Basis team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous improvementDevelop long term plans and strategies for the SAP landscape, including system architecture, scalability and future technology investments, to support business growth and innovationDefine roadmaps for SAP BTP, evaluation emerging technologies, cloud services and best practices to optimize IT operations and drive digital transformationLead teams to deliver high quality well architected solutions based on best practices.Develop and grow the existing SAP basis team into a high performance, efficient and effective team.Provide coaching, mentoring/guidance and leadership to all administrators (internal employees and external contractors) on-site as well as off-shoreManage and provide guidance to project resources, including third party partner consulting resources, onsite and offshoreDefine, publish and enforce an application infrastructure that enables seamless integration and high availability across SAP systemsResponsible for oversight of technical strategies relative to creation, implementation and expansion of SAP environmentTacticalActively monitors performance of systems and infrastructure to ensure continued reliability of information flow. Provide recommendations to improve the efficiency and reliability of existing infrastructureSupport the compliance team on best practices for access management, change management and operationsProvide technical leadership to develop, implement and monitor consistent architectural standards across the SAP landscape.Support estimating, scoping and sequencing of projects across cross-functional teamsImplement a shared SAP Basis and Infrastructure organization, leveraging best practices to optimize efficiency across the portfolioEstablish a SAP technology refresh roadmap, with visibility into future technology inflection points and budgetary requirementsEnsure adherence to all internal/external audit and SOX IT controls related to SAP developmentYour role will consist of (continued)OperationalDay to Day operations include: attending status meetings, ensure changes are clearly documented and approved prior to change review board, document and participate in root cause analysis meetings, review early watch reports with team and provide recommendationsImplement and enforce security policies, controls and best practices for SAP systems and SAP BTP environments, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and data privacy lawsContribute to engagement planning and ensuring that deliverables meet work plan objectivesConduct security and continuity assessmentsDay to Day operations include: attending status meetings, ensure changes are clearly documented and approved prior to change review board, document and participate in root cause analysis meetings, review early watch reports with team and provide recommendationsResolve and/or facilitate resolution of problems including identifying cause to prevent re-occurrence. Identify and resolve business issues, escalate issues when appropriateYour training, skills, and experience checklistKnowledge:Bachelor's (undergraduate) degree in computer science, information systems or equivalent is requiredStrong knowledge of SAP HANA administration including managing schemas, data model objects, import/export content, SQLHands on experience with SAP BTP administration, including Cloud Foundry and Neo environmentsStrong understanding of SAP Architecture, landscape design, and integration conceptsProficiency in SAP system installation, upgrades, patching and performance tuningComplete understanding of the SAP technical stack down to the infrastructure and network layerApplicant is required to have a strong SAP trouble shooting and maintenance backgroundExperience:15 years of technology, people management and related management experienceMinimum 10 years of experience managing Basis, Infrastructure or IT operations.Minimum 10 years' of industry/consulting experience with SAP platforms, applications and technologiesExperience with security standards and protocols: SAML, OData, OAuth etc.Experience providing Oracle, Windows and Linux support specific to SAP applicationsExperience supporting CHARM, SAP Wily monitoring and SAP Solution Manager diagnostics. Skilled in enhanced CTS+ setup and configurationExperience establishing SLAs, negotiating and managing both in-sourced and out-sourced IT servicesExperience in participating in transformation initiatives for mid to large scale organizationExperience in driving business process improvement initiativesMining, construction, utilities or other heavy industry experience is preferred.Skills and Abilities:Ability to think through concepts, to engineering, to implementation to supportAbility to adapt rapidly changing priorities and work through ambiguitiesAbility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and lead a geographically dispersed teamCreative thinking and problem solving, including logical and structured decision makingCollaboration, teamwork, negotiation, influence and relationship building skills at all levels with internal and external parties.SAP certification in Basis administrator and related areasFacilitation and consulting skillsAdvanced analytical and problem solving skillsWorking conditions and locationThe primary location for this position is Denver but qualified candidates in proximity to one of our offices or operations in the US or Canada are encouraged to apply. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience.
