Responsibilities: Compounding pharmacy technicians mix various components to create specific formulations of medicines for patients when the available drugs on the market do not suit the patients' needs. For example, a patient may be allergic to individual elements within a drug; a compounding pharmacy technician can create a new version of that medication without those elements. Or an elderly patient may not be able to take a medication in pill form, so a compounding pharmacy technician will make the drug into liquid form- all under the direct supervision of a Licensed Pharmacist. Answering phones, mailing, trouble-shooting, cleaning.
Essential Functions: *Assists the Pharmacist in filling prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy. *Types prescription information to produce labels. *Labels products appropriately, including cautionary or auxiliary labels. *Takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out-of-date items from the inventory. *Inputs patient data and medication orders into a computer system. *Prepares medications including emulsions, liquids, powders and ointments. *Packages medications for dispensing and for delivery. *Communicates with all customers in a pleasant and professional manner. *Processes returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction. *Performs other tasks as assigned. *To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Each essential function is required, although reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. *Operates Point of Sale equipment to complete sale of prescription medication and OTC items. *Ability to accurately handle money. Qualifications: Experience Preferred, willing to train the right proactive person.
*Required: HS diploma or equivalent *Required: Ability to recognize and identify medications; ability to work as a member of a team; ability to operate personal computers and/or computer terminals; skilled in performing detailed work *Licenses/Certifications as required by government regulations and business needs. Subject to change. Must be willing to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Test within 12 months of hiring. *No history of any drug use and/or offenses. Job Type: Full-time
