Job DescriptionOur client is looking to hire a Sales Tax Manager to manage all aspects of the company's sales tax process. In this role you will be auditing returns, reconciling withholdings, submitting timely and accurate payments, software implementation to improve the process, educating staff to minimize assessments and serve as the point person for all sales tax audits.
Sales Tax Manager Responsibilities Maintain and update sales tax records and files
Examine sales tax policies and handle sales tax payments and returns
Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger (e.g. by assets, liabilities and expenses)
Reconcile tax payments
Analyze transactions with internal and external stakeholders
Conduct month-end closures
Accrue the correct amount of sales tax
Prepare documents for audits
Advise staff on sales tax issues via email or phone
Apply new accounting policies and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
Report to the Corporate Controller and work to improve financial processes
Sales Tax Manager Requirements Similar experience as a sales tax manager or analyst or relevant role in accounting
Excellent use of Microsoft Office Word and Excel; excellent with spreadsheets
Knowledge of an accounting information system is a plus
Confidentiality and integrity
Degree in Accounting; MSc is a plus
