Join the HJF Team! HJF is seeking a Research Program Administrator who will provide day-to-day administrative oversight and research support for the Suicide CPR Initiative. To function in this role, the Research Program Administrator will work closely with the Suicide CPR Initiative Principal Investigators and Management Team. Overall, the position will involve a combination of research program administration duties (e.g., assist with the day-to-day administrative activities in support of current, pending, and new awards; maintain overall program budget; place orders for supplies and equipment), AND scientific support duties (e.g., assist with the preparation and/or submission of research study documents, to include research protocols, supporting documentation, and/or technical scientific reports). The Research Program Administrator will work in coordination with the Department of Medical and Clinical Psychology Program Manager and Henry M. Jackson Foundation personnel.
This position will be in support of the Suicide CPR Initiative, previously known as the Laboratory for the Treatment of Suicide-Related Ideation and Behavior, which was established in 2006. Dr. Holloway, the Director of the Suicide CPR Initiative, is a clinical psychologist and an intervention scientist who is primarily interested in developing and empirically evaluating novel interventions for suicide risk reduction. The Suicide CPR Initiative is strategically in a unique position to focus on the problem of military suicide, given its origins at USU and its established partnerships with the Department of Defense and Veterans Affairs, as well as national and international collaborators and stakeholders. Overall, the mission of the Suicide CPR Initiative is threefold: CARE: To develop effective interventions targeted at reducing suicidal thoughts and/or behaviors; PREVENTION: To save lives through education, intervention, science, and advocacy; RESEARCH: To advance suicide intervention science and practice.
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike.  Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
Provides administrative oversight and support for grants and contracts; supports and participates in the planning, creation and submission of proposals and agreements; maintains archive of documents required to support pre/post award management. Maintains overall program budget; shares monthly financial information with the Management Team; and problem-solves financial-related matters in coordination with the Department Program Manager and the Henry M. Jackson Foundation Grants Administrators. Interacts with internal and external stakeholders, under guidance of other Program Management staff; facilitates flow of information between research staff, Principal Investigators, project sponsors, research administrators in the administration of agreements and contracts and research compliance. Performs research clerical duties in support of the program; e.g., assists with travel authorization and reimbursements; places orders for supplies and equipment; assists with maintaining and updating standard operating procedures for the lab. Problem solves daily operational challenges; e.g., handles maintenance-related tasks associated with space and equipment; serves as office point-of-contact for building management; completes and tracks Information Technology (IT) service requests; processes media service requests; manages, maintains, and routinely updates equipment inventory. Assists with the preparation and/or submission of research protocols, technical scientific reports, and other research-related support documentation, as assigned. Assists with new grant submissions and/or the submission of manuscripts, on behalf of the program; assists with formating of documents according to required specifications. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Grants administration experience , including knowledge of organizational objectives, the federal budget process, and office automation. Experience in clinical or translational research, including knowledge of research design and methodology, IRB and regulatory procedures. Knowledge of project management principles, strong organizational skills and communication skills, openness to feedback, analytical and critical thinking skills. Ability to work completely independently, use sound judgement in solving problems, and coordinate many complex systems and programs simultaneously. Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check
Supervisory Responsibilities Does not have any supervisory responsibilities. Physical Capabilities Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods. Work Environment This position will take place primarily in a office setting. This position will be hybrid, with an on-site expectation of 3 days per week at the Rockledge location in Bethesda Education and Experience Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience required. Some positions or sites may require that the incumbent be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Proof of vaccination may be required. Employment with HJF is contingent upon successful completion of a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, contacting your professional references, verification of previous employment, education and credentials, a criminal background check, and a department of motor vehicle (DMV) check if applicable.
