Scheduled Hours 40 Position Summary The Eghtesady Research Laboratory conducts basic and clinical research to explore the causes of congenital heart diseases. We are conducting studies to test this hypothesis both by analysis of specimens from woman with pregnancies affected by CHD, as well as by studying offspring in animal models exposed to infections in early gestation. Work in the lab involves performing critically complex research and experimentation for the advancement of scientific analysis and discovery in our group with a specialized focus of phage immunoprecipitation-coupled sequencing technology. Job Description Salary Range Base pay is commensurate with experience.
Working Conditions This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in basic molecular biology skills such as PCR, cloning, nucleic acid purification, PCR, protein quantification assays (e.g., BCA), and ELISA is strongly preferred. Experience with blood cell separation immunostaining, bacteriophage culture/expansion, immunoprecipitation, and phage-display experiments. Ability to work independently. Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to communicate with laboratory staff and investigators. Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports. Exhibit self-starter quality with critical thinking and attention to detail. Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment. Required Qualifications Candidates with prior experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics and/or cell biology with at least a bachelor's degree are encouraged to apply.
