Reporting to the Associate Director of Wellness and Recreation, the Recreation Specialist is responsible for assisting with the overall management and supervision of recreational programming and student staff associated with the areas of recreation, intramurals, and club sports. Responsibilities

Create, implement, and manage recreational programming for the campus community including ensuring the safety of participants and equipment for scheduled events, clinics and programs; lead and teach a variety of activities that may include evenings and weekends.
Assist with the management of recreational facilities and develop, execute, and assess recreation and wellness events on campus.
Assist with the development and implementation of outdoor recreation programming.
Report assessment data to improve recreational opportunities, programs, and student learning; and supports activities related to institutional mission.
Implement IM Leagues for intramural programming.
Assist with the management of a robust club sports program.
Participate in developing and properly interpreting operational policies and procedures.
Assist with the management of all recreational inventory and ensure that the area has and maintains safe and operable equipment and facilities.
Evaluate programs and initiatives to ensure learning and department outcomes are met; Respond to facility, staff and participant needs. Required Qualifications

4 Year / Bachelor's Degree/Bachelor's degree in a related field
1-2 years of experience in a recreational setting Preferred Qualifications

Graduate Degree/Master's degree in a related field
Experience with administration, management and assessment of recreational programming.
Industry membership and involvement through organizations such as NIRSA
CPR, First Aid, and AED certification Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
ABILITIES

Ability to work in a collaborative, collegiate environment.
Ability to communicate effectively in written, verbal, and oral form. KNOWLEDGE

Demonstrated knowledge of NIRSA "best practices" for recreation and intramurals.
Working knowledge of computers and various software packages used for word processing, graphs, table, etc. (Microsoft Office 2003 or higher) SKILLS

Effective organizational and time management skills. Conditions of Employment
