Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit: The mission of the School of Social Work is to advance equity, transform systems, improve lives. Position Summary: The Behavioral Health Springboard (BHS) at the School of Social Work, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill links current research to mental health and substance use disorder treatment systems initiatives. BHS offers curricula development, technical assistance, program consultation, and face-to-face and online educational programs. Collaboration between the university and the community (local, regional/state, global) is mutually beneficial for exchanging knowledge and resources in a context of partnership and reciprocity. These exchanges enrich scholarship and research; enhance curriculum, teaching and learning; prepare educated, engaged citizens; strengthen values and civic responsibility; address critical societal issues; and contribute to the public good. Our training resources, products, and experienced staff help organizations design effective service delivery systems and assist with the transitions needed to implement evidenced based practices for improved client outcomes and systems efficiencies.
BHS seeks a highly skilled and knowledgeable Program Manager to provide project management, technical assistance, and implementation functions for the North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist (NCCPSS) Program, an initiative of the NC Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Use Services (DMH/DD/SUS). This involves collaborating with the NCCPSS Program Director to strategize and execute the program's scope of work. The position will perform project management functions around certification, course management, and stakeholder engagement to support the peer workforce. This position will supervise temporary staff, work-study students, and practicum students providing guidance as needed.. In addition, this role will provide business services to support the PrimeCare project. This hybrid position will require at least 60% in-person engagement at UNC-Chapel Hill. This position will report to the NCCPSS Program Director. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity or comparable background in independent academic or instructional activities, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. This experience may be related to the direction/oversight of programs that focus the academic and research resources of a higher education institution towards community or regional issues.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience: Experience working with persons with lived experience in severe mental illness and substance use disorders
Demonstrated experience managing/leading projects
*Demonstrated experience managing and/or resolving conflicts
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience: Master's degree in social sciences, e.g., social work, counseling, etc.
