The Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (LU-RRTC) on Research and Capacity Building for Minority Entities at Langston University invites applications for the Advanced Rehabilitation Research Training (ARRT) Program Postdoctoral Research Fellow position. Program Description: The ARRT program is housed within the Langston University Department of Rehabilitation and Disability Studies (DRDS), which is situated within the School of Education and Behavioral Sciences. The DRCDS is comprised of eight (8) faculty members, all with the certified rehabilitation counselor (CRC) credential, whose expertise and research interests span the field of rehabilitation, counseling and disability. The Department houses four (4) different NIDILRR funded national centers and post-doctoral training initiatives that conduct a programmatic line of research and research capacity building aimed at eradicating rehabilitation disparities: (1) RRTC on Research and Capacity Building for Minority Entities (five-year $4.375 million), (2) RRTC on Advancing Employment Equity for Multiply Marginalized Persons with Disabilities (five-year $4.666 million), (3) ARRT Solutions-Focused Translational Research to Enhance Equity in Employment Outcomes and Experiences among Multiply Marginalized Persons of Color with Disabilities (five-year $2 million), and (4) ARRT Solutions-Focused Translational Research to Improve Employment Outcomes and Experiences among Individuals with Disabilities from Traditionally Underserved Racial and Ethnic Populations (five-year $750,000).These NIDILRR grants also provide funding support for tuition and stipend to select students/fellows, up and coming early career- researchers in an effort to develop their research skills.
The ARRT postdoctoral program represents a collaborative effort between the Institute for Community Inclusion at the University of Massachusetts Boston ([ICI] Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-serving institution), North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University ([NCA&T] HBCU), South Carolina State University ([SCSU] HBCU), and Jackson State University ([JSU] HBCU). The Program implements a Peer-to-Peer Multiple Mentor Model to help post-doctoral fellows navigate institutional context and cross-fertilize their
independent research project and research grant proposal through exchanges with a primary mentor and a scientific panel of mentors comprised of content experts, multicultural specialists, methodologists, and statisticians.
The review process will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The expected starting date is May 14, 2024. Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with qualifications.
Appointment
The initial appointment is for 24 months based upon campus policy, with renewal based on performance and funding. This is a full-time appointment. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and based on Langston University Postdoc salary scale including benefits.
Langston University, founded in 1897 as a historically Black co-educational institution, is the only institution in the State of Oklahoma with both land grant and urban missions. This position will be within the Graduate Program in Rehabilitation Counseling is housed on Langston's Oklahoma City Campus. Oklahoma City is a metropolitan area of 608.2 square miles with a population of more than 450,000 offering many of the same cultural experiences of other major cities. Oklahoma City is the seat of government for the State of Oklahoma and Oklahoma County, and is the location of many regional federal agency offices.

Education & Experience Position Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS: We are seeking self-motivated and talented applicants with the ability to think critically and excellent interpersonal communication skills. In addition, applicants must meet the following criteria:
· Satisfactory completion of all academic requirements for a doctoral degree from an accredited university in one of the following branches of rehabilitation; rehabilitation counseling, psychology, special education, social work, rehabilitation teaching, counseling, orientation and mobility, physical therapy, occupational therapy, communication [speech] therapy, and nursing; or economics and health statistics/mathematics, or other related areas
· A demonstrated interest in the rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities as evidenced by prior relevant professional and/or research experiences.
· A strong commitment in obtaining employment as a faculty member or researcher at an institution of higher learning or research center.
· Long term academic goals related to pursuit of research in a related area of disability and employment research.
· A willingness to commit two years to advanced rehabilitation research training.
