Eagle Health Analytics (EHA), LLC is seeking a Physician to assist in the Emergency Room Department at Madigan Army Medical Center.Supervised by: COR and/or their designeeEducation: Successfully completed an accredited emergency medicine residency.Qualifications: Board Certified Emergency Medicine (American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or American Board of Osteopathic Emergency Medicine (ABOEM) only.Licensure/Certification/Registration: Have and maintain a valid, unrestricted license (MD or DO) in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands and able to obtain clinical privileges to practice medicine at the MTF where services are provided. Have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.Experience: At least two years of ER physician experience in the last 2 years. Specific Tasks:Adequately diagnose and treat patients of all ages with diseases and injuries to include, but not limited to the following:Cardiovascular System Musculoskeletal System Central Nervous System NeckEars Nose Eyes, Peripheral Nervous System, Endocrine System, Psychiatric Disease Gastrointestinal System, Pulmonary System, Genitourinary System, Reproductive System, Head, Skin, Lymphatic System, Throat/Mouth. Adequately perform medical procedures to include, but not limited to the following: Administer intravenous, intramuscular and subcutaneous medications as appropriate Perform venous punctures for lab studies and interpret results. Bandage, Rapid Sequence Intubations, Bladder catherization, Reduce dislocations and fractures when appropriate. Conscious sedation and analgesics Removal of foreign bodies as appropriate Deliver babies/Emergency vaginal deliveries Remove sutures. Diagnostic Peritoneal Lavage (DPL) Restraints, Draw arterial blood gases for evaluation and interpret resultsSecure and maintain adequate intravenous access by peripheral and by certain routes, Incision and drainage. Perform venous punctures for lab studies and interpret results, Local anesthesiaSecure and maintain an adequate airway, by such means as: oral airways; oral tracheal intubations; nasal/tracheal intubations; crico-thyrotomy (needle and surgical) Lumbar puncture, Sling or swath injuries, Nail Trephination, Splint and stabilize traumatic injuries to extremities. Administer intravenous, intramuscular and subcutaneous medications as appropriate, Stabilize and evaluate cervical spine injuries as appropriate, Bandage, Supervise resuscitations, cardiac arrests, and trauma, NG/OG tubesSuture simple and complex lacerations, Open thoracotomy, Tube thoracostomy, Pericardiocentesis, Sling or swath injuries. Perform tasks including but not limited to the following: Complete required paperwork, Provide discharge instructions, Consult with consultants appropriately, Provide expert guidance as needed to civilian physician assistants Coordinate with accepting facility, & other emergency departments Direct medical care through radio communication with an ambulance Provide medical advice over the phoneRespond to cardiopulmonary arrest as appropriate and arrange appropriate backup from the EMS Interpret electrocardiograms. Technically supervise and teach emergency medicine residents, physician assistants, physician assistant fellows, Interns, medical students, and other house staff while during assigned shifts in the ED, Utilize paraprofessional staff as appropriate, Obtain an adequate history, physical, assessment and plan in a timely and appropriate manner on each patient and develop treatment plan.The HCPs shall perform the following general tasks:Examine all eligible military healthcare system beneficiaries and civilian patients requesting or presenting for emergency medical care to render a medical assessment of their condition, and to take appropriate action. Provide immediate evaluation and management of emergency patients as they present themselves for care. The contract HCP's shall see at least three patients per hour when acting independently and comply with departmental policy on staffing resident, intern and medical student charts. Provide definitive medical care to reduce the emergency situation and enable the patient to safely continue care as an outpatient with follow-up care as required. The contract HCP's shall ensure that abnormal results that are not acted upon in the ED are reported to the Chief Resident. If medically indicated the contract HCP's shall immediately notify patients of abnormal results and necessary follow up. Provide emergency medical care to both inpatients and outpatients, summon appropriate on-call specialist when deemed necessary, and continue medical management until the arrival of the appropriate specialist. Respond to cardiac or respiratory arrest medical emergency alerts (referred to as "Charlie Alpha's" in this facility) within the hospital in accordance with institutional and Emergency Department policy. Provide resuscitation treatment until more specialized treatment arrives. Should resuscitation efforts be unsuccessful, the physician shall pronounce the patient dead, complete necessary records, and notify the next-of-kin, if the next-of-kin is physically present. Patients presenting themselves with non-acute conditions shall be reassured and treated in priority as established by medical triage. Prepare appropriate narrative summaries and changes to patient profiles.Prepare and document appropriate history, physical examinations, and preoperative diagnosis.Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with hospital directives and ArmyRegulation (AR) 40-66, Medical Records and Quality Assurance Administration. Prepare additional records and reports as would be required of officers of the Army Medical Department charged with the same professional and administrative responsibilities or of any physician in the normal course of patient care. Ensure all documentation and reports are legible. Prior to departure from shift, countersign all charts for cases which you participated. Complete Washington State Labor and Industry and civilian service employee injury forms to document on-the-job injuries and occupational disease, and to respond to requests for clarification on charts being reviewed in response to a quality improvement question or a patient complaint. Patients requiring care beyond the capabilities of MAMC will be transferred to an authorized receiving hospital. The Contract HCP's shall be responsible for managing such patients until transfer is arranged.The Contract HCPs shall follow established procedures for completion of appropriate documents and comply with Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) and Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA) regulations. Manage patients in the ED Observation Unit.Technically oversee and teach emergency medicine residents, physician assistant fellows, interns, medical students, and other house staff during assigned shifts in the Emergency Department.Provide expert guidance as needed to Government service (GS) physician assistants assigned toEmergency Medicine. Provide professional advice to emergency department personnel and ward personnel, in emergency situations noted above, with regard to professional management of patients being treated and/or hospitalized. As part of the Coordinating Team, confer with other team members to respond to aberrations in workflow, shortages in staffing, unanticipated shortages of essential supplies, failure of equipment, etc. Advise the COR of any problems encountered, or anticipated, in connection with meeting the needs of patients treated by the contract physicians. Continuing problems of any nature shall be reported by the contractor in writing to the COR. Respond to calls coming into the Pierce County Base Station console located at the physicians' work station in the ED, directing emergency medical response and telephonically directing pre-hospital patient care in accordance with Washington State, Pierce County, and MTF guidelines. Accompany emergency room technicians on ambulance runs when indicated by the nature of the emergency. This includes initial response for disaster type situations. The contract physicians shall remain on the scene and provide required care until relieved by a staff physicianPerform emergency room procedures compatible with the medical facility's operating capacity and equipment. Respond to mass casualty situations in accordance with hospital procedures. Contract HCP's shall adhere to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines concerning universal precautions and the Madigan Infection Control Program at all times while providing services under this contract. Perform all duties in such a manner that they meet all JC standards. Contract HCP's shall attend the Department of Emergency Medicine's monthly staff meetings and the Quality Improvement and Risk Management committee meetings, as workload permits during scheduled duty, or as might be required due to issues being presented. Contract HCPs may, at no cost to the Government, also attend such meetings and Continuing Medical. Education offerings scheduled during other than their assigned duty shift. Contract HCPs shall become familiar with the hospital formulary. Contract HCPs authorized to prescribe pharmaceuticals shall do so according to the availability of drugs listed therein. The pharmacy service will provide instructions to all prescribing practitioners on substitutability of generic drugs for prescribed drugs.
