Museum Educator (On-Call / Part-Time)

The DAR Museum, located in the NSDAR Headquarters, collects, preserves, and interprets objects used and created in American homes. Using the lens of the varied interpretations of home, we inspire conversations about the diverse American experience encouraging people to discover common ground.
This position will join the DAR Museum at an exciting time of transition and expansion. With a revised mission statement, the Museum is committed to offering programs and experiences that educate and inspire future generations, creating an active sense of welcome and community.
We are looking for energetic, collaborative, and extremely organized individuals who have a passion for history.
Position Responsibilities: Creates a positive learning environment for guests of all ages and backgrounds through engagement programing, museum experiences, and tours. Provides wayfinding assistance to visitors by applying their knowledge of the museum's programs and exhibits. Assists with the preparation and development of programming. Documents program evaluations and makes recommendations for improvement. Occasionally assists with curatorial and collection projects. Provides administrative assistance where needed. Position Requirements: Previous experience in program management and delivery within a museum or gallery setting. High school diploma or equivalent. Preference will be given to graduate students studying museum studies, American history, or public history. Knowledgeable about museum education and public history best practices. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and iOS. Typical work schedules are from 16-24 hours per week. We will work with individuals in this role to schedule time around classes.
