Position Description The Department of Family Medicine (DFM) at the University of Washington offers an outstanding opportunity to join our Sports Medicine Section. We invite applications for one (1) Assistant Professor without tenure (WOT) to join an exciting and growing Sports Medicine team with long established national and international successes in the areas of sports medicine clinical care, education and research.
Assistant Professors (Without Tenure) are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024, or as soon as possible.
The base salary range for this position will be: $15,000 - $18,333 per month ($180,000 - $220,000 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. Other compensation associated with this position may include incentive through the UW Physicians practice plan.

Position Description This position expects that the faculty hired will participate in departmental activities for the Department of Family Medicine, while their clinical work will be focused on Primary Care and Sports Medicine. They are expected to participate in the teaching mission of the Department, especially as teaching faculty for the sports medicine fellowship.
This 1.0 FTE position consists of clinical scheduled time (0.8 FTE) and research/academic support (0.2 FTE). Depending on interest there may be opportunity for teaching in the School of Medicine. Clinical scheduled time will be at the UW Sports Medicine Clinic at Ballard (0.6 FTE) and at Husky Stadium (0.2 FTE) and may be either direct patient care (sometimes with residents or other learners) or precepting the sports medicine fellows in their clinic.
The successful candidates will be expected to participate in the full spectrum of clinical sports medicine practice. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, advanced skills in procedural and diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound including hydrodissection. Other procedural opportunities such as radiofrequency ablation and Tenex are based on training background and the needs of the sports medicine section. Sport coverage opportunities include coverage of Seattle Pacific University and Bishop Blanchet High School.
Qualifications Applicants are required to have an MD, DO, or foreign equivalent with current certification by the American Board of Family Medicine.
Washington State Medical License (DEA and NPI), or license eligible Board certified (or board eligible) in Sports Medicine Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience is required In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
