Salary: $60-75k DOE
Overview
The Lead Chemist oversees the chemistry department's operations and staff. As part of the management team, they contribute to overall laboratory quality. Key responsibilities include supervising operations, managing staff, ensuring quality, expertise in mass spectrometry, regulatory compliance, and test development.
Responsibilities:
• Supervision of the activities of chemistry department and technicians.
• Proficiency in operating HPLC and LC-MS equipment.
• Ability to develop LC-MS tests and supervise development of all chemistry tests.
• Implementation of sanitation and safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for laboratory personnel
• Supervision of training new department personnel in standard operating procedures.
• Supervises compliance with Laboratory's SOPs and regulatory authorities.
• Supervision of the development and coordination of lab systems and procedures to ensure efficient and effective lab operations while maintaining on time delivery of requested orders.
• Supervision of the development, validation, and documentation of new or improved techniques and methods of analysis.
• Creating, reviewing and editing Standard Operating Procedures.
• Representing the Chemistry department to interact with accreditation and regulatory inspectors. • Assisting the Lab Manager to develop and maintain necessary quality control and maintenance logbooks/ spreadsheets.
• Assisting the Lab Manager to ensure that all Quality Management System policies and procedures are being followed.
• Performing high quality work by striving for zero defects / error-free work and delivering on time results.
• Preparing samples for testing following laboratory Standard Operating Procedures. • Monitoring consumable supplies and keep inventory of supplies at recommended levels.
• Maintaining records of analytical results both in paper and electronic forms and prepare results for review.
• Operating and performing routine maintenance on HPLC-DAD/UV and LC-MS/MS as necessary.
• Identifying the deviations from the Management system or from the laboratory procedures and evaluating the significance of the deviation.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in a related field
• 5+ years of industry experience with LC-MS and HPLC
• Management experience
