The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is seeking a dedicated, talented, and expert level IT Data Catalog Administrator (IS Data Services Consultant/Administrator) to provide leadership for the setup, administration, and use of the WisDOT Data Catalog, and to help implement our agency Data Governance and Data Quality frameworks.


This full-time permanent position is located within the Bureau of Information Technology (BITS) within the Division of Business Management (DBM) and is headquartered at the Hill Farms State Office Building on the near west side of Madison. We are also conveniently located close to the restaurants, shopping, and entertainment of the Hilldale Mall .

Position Summary This position provides direction and technical expertise for the setup and administration of WisDOT's data catalog in support of the agency's Data Governance program and its implementation. This position helps coordinate data collection, analyses, and documentation, and supports users in leveraging metadata within the data catalog to advance WisDOT business objectives.
This position is responsible for activities such as: Coordinate and provide advanced technical expertise and services for the design, setup, and implementation of the WisDOT data catalog. Champion the adoption and use of the data catalog across WisDOT. Review, develop, and implement policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines related to the WisDOT data catalog. Advise WisDOT staff and management on data governance and data quality issues, emerging trends, and industry best practices. Provide expert leadership, strategic direction, and consulting related to data quality, data cleanup, and data documentation. Develop plans for data stewardship initiatives to support WisDOT business and information technology needs. Salary Information This position is in schedule-range (07-32) with an annual salary of $76,960 - $110,240 (or $37 - $53 per hour), plus excellent benefits . A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Qualifications Qualified applicants must detail having experience in all the following in order to be considered: Providing consultation on database management principles and/or implementing strategies related to data classification, data quality, or database security. Leading cross-functional teams to coordinate data collection, data cleanup, and data documentation. Collaborating with data stewards and custodians to develop policies, standards, and/or procedures for a data catalog. In addition to having all the above, well qualified applicants will also detail having experience with one or more of the following: Leading the technical setup and maintenance of the Informatica Data Catalog tool or another major organizational data catalog tool.
