About the Role: The ACF Estimator will review, interpret, and assess architectural and design drawings to take-off millwork-specific components and assemblies. A high-level understanding of the take of process will be needed to distinguish scope-related items other than millwork like architectural metals, glass, stone, and fabric items. The Estimator will be responsible for obtaining pricing for proposals for new construction projects, renovations, change orders, and all other final cost-associated projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Preparation of cost estimates for millwork projects or services. Perform take-offs of material requirements. Solicit vendor quotes for custom material elements of projects. Estimate man-hour requirements for products and services. Have a thorough understanding of the scope and sequencing of projects. Provide written descriptions of work to be performed. Create detailed and accurate proposals. Prepare estimates for changes throughout the course of a project. Review drawings and specifications and perform take-offs. Create RFI questions and log for architect/designer/GC during take-off and bidding stage. Provide project overview presentations upon contract award to Project Management staff and other company stakeholders. Communicate project requirements effectively with co-workers and clients as required. Review purchase order requisitions for accuracy and consistency with project requirements. Understanding of the means and methods for the engineering, fabrication, finishing and installation of architectural woodwork, casework, and millwork. Provide detailed project cost reports in support of all estimates utilizing company estimating software. Update estimating database with current costs, rates, and labor estimates. Research new vendors and schedule in-house demonstrations. Maintain Material and Product Libraries Inventory Software. Performs other duties as required. Education & Experience Minimum of 5 years of experience as an estimator in the field of millwork, or equivalent Experience in estimating, constructing, or project management of millwork, general commercial construction. Technical Skills and Knowledge: Must be able to work effectively with vendors, corporate staff, and ownership and possess strong relationship development/management skills. Conflict management/resolution and negotiation/persuasion skills critical. Ability to adapt to estimating millwork and small construction projects and other related work in accordance with the company's business model. Able to visualize end-result from construction drawings or renderings. Advanced skills in blueprint reading with ability to interpret blueprints and perform takeoffs. Ability to estimate designs from computer generated renderings. Must be able to efficiently schedule all aspects of estimating from start to finish and consistently meet all deadlines. Capable of investigating all aspects of a project independently to generate formal estimates and bids. Basic drafting/drawing background Understands fabrication and construction processes. Completely understands millwork construction. Capable of estimating projects of more than $500,000. Ability to work with numbers and has above average math skills. Has excellent verbal and written communication skills. Good organizational skills, ability to multi-task, confidently organizes work and workload. Must be open-minded and willing to learn new things and work with different processes and procedures. Computer literate including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc., and can learn company estimating software.
