At LCRA, we have an immediate opening for a candidate with a general engineering background (i.e. mechanical, electrical, chemical, or industrial, etc.) to work as a power plant engineer! In this role, you would support the Wholesale Power generation fleet at various plant locations around the Austin area as business needs dictate. The Wholesale Power fleet consists of various power generating technologies including solid fuel (coal) units, natural gas-fired conventional units, natural gas-fired combined cycle units, natural gas-fired simple cycle gas combustion turbines, natural gas storage facility, and natural gas-fired reciprocating internal combustion engines. Power plant engineers provide key functions to support the reliable supply of electricity to the people of central Texas. There will be learning on the job, use of engineering principles, and phenomenal comradery with co-workers in a friendly and family-life supported atmosphere. Our mission is to improve the lives of Central Texas and our teams are dedicated to service with safety focus as top priority!You will be trusted to:- Under limited supervision of a licensed professional engineer, perform a variety of progressively responsible engineering assignments involving engineering principles.- Complete engineering projects, designs work and drafts specifications involving adaptations and modifications to Power Plant systems, equipment, materials, and procedures.- Complete assigned tasks related to Operational Readiness for new generation facilities currently under construction. These tasks may include equipment asset identification and maintenance database buildout, operational and maintenance procedure development, and incorporating technologies the LCRA fleet uses for plant monitoring and reporting.- Conduct and analyzes tests and diagnoses and evaluates equipment performance for Power Plants. May direct the work of craftsmen or technicians. May assist less experienced engineers or others.- Prepare reports, operating instructions, and project outlines in connection with engineering assignments. Follows appropriate business procedures.
