Who are we?
At Assort Health, we are making healthcare more accessible and affordable by introducing a new way for patients to navigate and access care using the latest advances in generative AI. We are developing an AI-enhanced contact center and care navigation platform that supports all modes of communication: text, audio, and video. Our platform will be the go-to for patients seeking care. Unfortunately, the high costs of scaling and maintaining call center operations and administrative staffing within healthcare are often passed down to the patient. We are excited to be solving this problem and creating a healthier, more efficient healthcare system for patients.
Assort is led by Jon (Founder of Shimmer YC S21, 7 publications in healthcare AI, former UCSF med student, Stanford grad in top 3%) and Jeff (former Head of Product Engineering at Athelas, first non-founder engineer at Cameo, engineer at Facebook, Duke grad).
We've secured a contract with the largest ortho practice in Illinois (>$200M revenue) with contract expansion opportunities worth > $1M ACV and see a path to over $3MM ARR in the next 18-24 months.

About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated first hire and founding engineer to join our team and help build our startup from the ground up.
As a founding engineer, you will be a cornerstone to our company's growth and success. If you are a self-starter who is ready to wear many hats and build build and scale products from zero-one, then this is the perfect role for you. You'll have lots of autonomy and will need to be comfortable operating in ambiguous situations with an entrepreneurial mindset.
You will work on the forefront of technology, utilizing generative AI and audio innovations that have only become available in the past few months.
As time goes on, you will develop into a player-coach, not only contributing to the construction of our technology from the beginning, but also mentoring those around you and leading a world-class team that you build.

? What you'll do
As a member of the founding team and first hire, you will have many responsibilities and will be involved in key decisions alongside the founders. You will have a lot of autonomy and be expected to develop features and products from scratch. We prioritize speed above all else at this stage of the company, so the ability to work quickly is essential. You will interact with physicians and other healthcare professionals to understand customer needs and design software accordingly. As we rapidly expand our engineering team over the next 6-9 months, you may have the opportunity to serve as a player-coach. However, we also value individual contributors. You will develop scalable software solutions that comply with HIPAA and other security standards. ? What we're looking for
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field. 3+ years of experience as a software engineer (flexible based on performance in tech interview). Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Python and JavaScript. Experience with cloud computing platforms and deployment, such as Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes. Knowledge of database management systems, such as Postgres. Experience working with applied machine learning, using open source and APIs (e.g. OpenAI). Optional: Experience working with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Optional: Expertise in audio and voice tech architecture. What benefits do we offer?
