The Early Learning Supervisor will ensure program quality and continuity of services to children and families in the program, and provides educational expertise, guidance, and training to all preschool staff and directly supervise all preschool staff. The Preschool Supervisor develops strong nurturing relationships with children and provides them with a developmentally appropriate learning environment, with meaningful experiences in preparation for a successful kindergarten experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Manage and guide all preschool classrooms and work directly with teachers and IA's individually, and in small and large groups. Review hourly timecards and bi-weekly payroll; review and approve PTO and other time-off requests. Provide regular reporting for grants, primarily with Preschool Promise, and possibly others. Plan and conduct educational programs that best characterize developmentally appropriate practice in the Early Childhood Education field. Use assessment information to individualize the curriculum to build on each child's prior knowledge and experiences and to provide curriculum experience that supports learning and development. Be familiar with and oversee the implementation of the curriculum guidelines. Apply the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion, and accommodation for children with disabilities. Develop open lines of communication with staff, parents, and children, and conduct one-on-one meetings with parents to discuss each child's progress. Ensure classrooms are operating effectively and meeting or exceeding standards; maintain licensing, ratios, safety, and educational standards. Cultivate positive relationships with families, teachers, school staff, state licensing authorities, community contacts. Lead recruitment and enrollment efforts of new families and children in our sites. Conduct and document family conferences which are designed to strengthen parent engagement. Incorporate this information into child assessment and curriculum planning. Participate in school activities, e.g., parent meeting, family days, etc. Attend and participate in staff meetings, planning meetings, and training. Qualifications Demonstrated success as a Pre-School Supervisor preferred including mentoring, coaching, and leading others in the ECE field. Valid TSPC license preferred, BA/BS in ECE or Child Development, or equivalent combination of related education and experience. Working knowledge of state and local regulations. Familiarity with Preschool Promise grant compliance desirable but not required. Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required. A commitment to working with under-resourced youth.
