OverviewThe Distribution Center Manager is responsible for leading a team of highly trained and motivated individuals that receive, store, package, and ship products at TAPCO's headquarters in Brown Deer, Wisconsin. This, position plays a critical role in delivering on TAPCO's key metrics that feed directly into TAPCO's companywide gainsharing program. This individual continually coaches their team and models the key behaviors that define how TAPCO does business. This leader takes personal responsibility for the performance and safety of their team and sets daily performance expectations, assigns work with clear expectations, insures accountability, and actively celebrates success when improvement milestones are met.
ResponsibilitiesLead a team that accurately and safely receives, stores, packages, and ships all product entering and leaving TAPCO.
Evaluate operating results in distribution center and identifying and correct shortfalls in cost, quality, safety and delivery
Develop work procedures and schedules work that safely achieves objectives.
Oversee carriers, 3PL providers, and other shipping and logistics vendors to insure they successfully achieve budget objectives.
Ensure efficient warehouse operations in product storage, picking, packing and inventory transactions.
Monitor warehouse budget and ensure warehouse assets are maintained and secured.
Provide capital expenditures and annual staffing plans for budgetary purposes
Participate in monthly budget review process to identify wins and areas for improvement.
Develop and maintain inventory management procedures.
Model and enforce safe work practices and insures adequate representation of their department in the safety and quality.
Communicate job expectations to team members and provides frequent and immediate positive and negative feedback on performance.
Identify future leaders on their team and delegates responsibility and opportunity whenever possible.
Develop and maintain a robust training programs that insures a stable, engaged, safe work force.
Work with the quality department to identify and execute on all necessary inbound inspection and assembly functions.
Work with purchasing to ensure that all suppliers are conforming to TAPCO labeling and packaging specifications.
Expand on current lean practices and maintains company to 5S standards.
Qualifications and Other Details5-7 years' prior experience as a shipping/receiving or warehouse manager
Prior experience building a successful team
BS in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain Management
Strong Microsoft office skills: MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
Prior experience working independently
