The Dispatcher is responsible for the coordination of the utilization of commodity drivers and trucks to maximize productivity and ensure prompt, courteous and efficient service to all customers. He/she will work closely with the Regional Manager, Fleet Manager, and operations personnel to help coordinate scheduling, manage communication, and dispatching of drivers to meet customer expectations. Responsible for managing a group of 35 drivers with the dual goals of maintaining a high level of on time customer loading and delivery, overall customer service and supporting driver needs while directing their work. He/she will work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday while also being on call.
Essential Job Responsibilities include: ? Directing drivers at shift change
? Planning predetermined routes and accommodating route changes as needed.
? Communicating via email and calls with potato plants and other customers
? Communicating with drivers on schedules and loads
? Communicating with the shop on repairs and maintenance schedules
? Making changes based on changes at the plant, equipment breakdowns or employee issues
? Promptly handling calls and requests from drivers, management, and customers throughout duration of shift
Requirements: A valid Class A CDL and medical card A good driving record 2 years of tractor/trailer driving experience ? Attention to detail and accurate data entry skills.
? Willingness to work a set schedule with on call availability
? Experience with Word, Excel, and willingness to learn Transportation Software
? 2-3 years of experience as a truck dispatcher in a similar industry (CDL preferred)
? Ability to monitor drivers' logs, truck maintenance schedules, and repairs.
? Knowledge of applicable transportation regulations and laws.
? Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
