Who We Need:
We are seeking a Part-Time Certified Veterinary Technician who, like us, is moved by serving underserved people and their pets. This person would share our commitment to making high-quality spay/neuter services affordable and accessible to all pet owners. This position requires weekday availability two-three days per week until 5:30pm. You may be our ideal candidate if you enjoy a fast-pace and being part of a strong, positive team.
Position Summary
Job Responsibilities
-Surgical prep of patients while ensuring safety and sterility
-Anesthetize patients, monitor under anesthesia and provide post-operative care
-Calculate drug dosages -handle and track controlled substances Clean and maintain equipment, surgical quarters and animal areas as needed
-Ensure prompt and accurate paperwork procedures are followed
-Effectively communicate in a friendly and professional manner with co-workers and the public
-Provide excellent customer service
Qualifications & Requirements
-Veterinary Technician Certification achieved and maintained
-Veterinary Technician certification required
-Experience in a veterinary clinic and/or animal shelter or control facility preferred
-Able to lift and carry up to 50lbs repeatedly throughout the day
-Candidates must be committed to treating animals with kindness and respect
Benefits/Compensation
WHS offers newly hired CVTs a very competitive starting salary of $16.00/hour. In addition, hired candidates will receive a $500 bonus after 90 days and another $500 at the 6 month mark for a total of $1,000! All staff are eligible for the following benefits package:

About Us
The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin. It was founded in 1879 and operates shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Door, and Brown Counties, as well as a Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis. The organization offers adoption services, educational programming, and veterinary resources for animals from low-income households, retail stores, volunteer programs, and dog training classes. The Milwaukee shelter also houses the states busiest Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. WHS is an independent nonprofit and receives no general government funding and is not part of any national umbrella group.
