In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only. Full Salary Range Minimum: $18.00

The Campus Store Associate is responsible for the operation of the Campus Store. They will work independently assisting customers, processing payments, ordering, receiving and stocking merchandise. Associate is also responsible for ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately accounted, recorded and delivered. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Must be able to add subtract, multiple, divide and calculate percentages.
2. Ability to work within windows based computer operating system.
3. Ability to effectively and professionally interact with vendors, faculty, staff, administration and students.
4. Must have excellent customer service skills.
5. Must be able to type and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with industry and job specific terminology is helpful but can be learned on the job.
6. Must be able to travel to various locations for educational training and to assist in the operation of any Western University event as needed.
7. Must be able to use creative thinking for problem solving.
8. Must be able to work in a busy changing environment where priorities and deadlines are constantly changing and being re-evaluated.
9. Ability to regularly grasp, lift or otherwise move goods weighing up to 30 pounds and move packages up to 70 pounds with the use of a hand truck.
10. Ability to work independently.
11. Ability to drive to the bank at times carrying rolled coin weighing 30 pounds.
12. Flexibility assisting other departments during slow times.
13. Must be punctual. Required Qualifications
1. Education: Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. 2. Experience: Minimum one year retail experience required.
3. Must have a valid driver's license.
4. Must maintain Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)that satisfies the requirements of the WesternU Vehicle use Policy Preferred Qualifications Posting Date: 03/15/2024

Job Duties
1. Operate cash register and verify purchase price
2. Package customer purchases
3. Process customer payments
4. Accurately tabulate cash register media and send the totals to the appropriate personnel on a daily basis.
5. Make bank deposit for the University once a week and at the end of each month.

6. Respond to customer inquires made via email, telephone or in person.
7. Loss prevention – responsible for taking steps to detect common signs of shoplifting, theft and other security risks involving customers and co-workers.
8. Maintain a well stocked clean and safe environment.

9. Computer – input customer special orders and vendor merchandise returns.
10. Ordering, receiving and stocking merchandise.
11. Assist in preparation and conducting of the Campus Store physical inventory.

12. Flexibility necessary to be able to work addition hours during special events and/or during the months of June, July, August and other peak periods with no time off. Occasional Saturday and evening shifts will occur.
13.Work independently communicating with the Pomona location regularly.
14. Communicate all absences with your supervisor whether it is weather related or illness as soon as possible.
15. Open and close the bookstore according to the posted hours of operation. 
16. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
