Title: Assistant Professor of Pharmacy (WOT), Director of Education, Center for Epilepsy Drug Discovery Position The Department of Pharmacy in the UW School of Pharmacy, invites applications for a 100% FTE, 12-month service period, faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor without tenure (WOT) and serve as the Director of Education for the newly recognized Center for Epilepsy Drug Discovery (CEDD). The CEDD is committed to the discovery of novel drugs for the treatment and prevention of acquired drug-resistant epilepsy using translationally relevant animal models, discovery and pharmacological validation of novel rodent epilepsy models, and to the training of next-generation epilepsy investigators and healthcare professionals.
This position will be involved in emerging drug discovery research focused on the basic mechanisms of the epilepsies and therapy discovery for drug-resistant epilepsy, and will specialize in epidemiology, pathophysiology, molecular genetics and treatment of epilepsy and translational epilepsy research.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Expertly design and execute preclinical efficacy studies and pharmacokinetic/ pharmacodynamic outcome analysis using etiologically relevant model systems.
Develop and/or maintain an externally funded, independent research/scholarship program, resulting in peer-reviewed publications and other scientific communications Support the educational mission of the CEDD through the development and implementation of innovative didactic and practical training programs that support the education and training of the next generation of epilepsy researchers and educators.
In their role as CEDD Director of Education, be an integral member of the CEDD leadership team and work closely with the Co-Directors in the development of a strategic plan and initiatives to support CEDD's overall scientific and educational mission.
Engage in research, teaching, mentorship, and service, and to develop a teaching portfolio that enhances the Department's teaching mission, including classroom instruction at the PharmD, graduate and undergraduate level.
Support the Department and School's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as contribute to the larger service mission of the School of Pharmacy and the UW.
Support the training mission facilitated by a new Health Sciences Education Building, a state-of-the-art interprofessional space for training future health professionals.

The Department of Pharmacy is a leader in pharmacy education, research, and professional and outreach initiatives. The successful candidate will join a cadre of other active and collaborative nternationally recognized epilepsy researchers and educators The base salary range for this position at the rank of Assistant Professor will be $9,360 - $11,440 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination Other compensation associated with this position may include a moving allowance. Qualifications Ph.D (or foreign equivalent) in Pharmacology or related field from an accredited institution in a relevant field.
At least 1 year of teaching and student mentoring experience at the undergraduate, graduate or professional degree level.
Understanding of and/or potential for expertise in translational pharmacological research and drug discovery in the neurological sciences, including epilepsy. This understanding and/or potential may be gained through residency, fellowship, other postgraduate training or equivalent research experience, or demonstrated by sustained research productivity and publication record Instructions Please submit the following materials via Interfolio.
