THE ROLE
As a team member of the CTDOT Internal Audit Division, the Accounts Examiner will be primarily responsible for assisting Supervisory Accounts Examiners and/or the Director of Internal Audit by auditing and reviewing the operations, controls, business processes and accounts of the CTDOT, as well as assisting in conducting inventory counts at the department's Stores facilities. The Accounts Examiner will:
– Assist in performing examination work involving the evaluation of business processes, internal controls, financial records and reports of CTDOT or other organizations funded by DOT.
– Perform audits and reviews, and assist in performing more complex audits.
– For an on-site audit, meet with officials of organization being examined to discuss audit procedures, answers questions and obtains necessary information and records.
– Examine varied financial documents and data;
– Research historical and/or other related data as needed.
– Analyze and compare data to determine appropriate status or action.
– Utilize electronic data processing (EDP) systems, including Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, to obtain financial records, reports and analysis.
– Determine compliance of documents or procedures with laws, regulations and any state or federal requirements.
– Hold meetings with audit subjects.
– Participate in meetings and briefings.
– Assist in coordinating Division workflow.
– Perform related duties as required.
