Supervises and leads YCC Crew Members. Performs grounds maintenance and landscaping duties; weeding, mulching, digging, raking, pruning, cutting, planting, site preparation, material removal and disposal. Tracks and submits project work logs and timesheets for YCC Crew Members. Collaborates with YCC Project Managers on daily and weekly work plans. Operates mechanical equipment; edgers, trimmers, mowers, augers, pumps. Assists with irrigation repair and maintenance. Assists with landscape maintenance and renovation projects. Attend required daily trainings. Responsible for daily tool and material inventory. KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

Knowledge of grounds equipment operation, maintenance and repair principles. Knowledge of irrigation system installation, maintenance and repair principles. SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The Grounds Maintenance Supervisor assigns work in terms of detailed but somewhat general instructions. The supervisor reviews most or all completed work for to check for accuracy and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINES
Guidelines include YCC project progress and staff time reporting, equipment operation and maintenance manuals, safe work guidelines, and college policies and procedures. These guidelines are generally clear and specific, but may require some interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
The work consists of related grounds maintenance duties including acting as Team Lead. Varying terrain in site locations (hilly, sandy, inclement weather) contribute to the complexity of the position. The purpose of this position is to contribute to the beautification of SJC campus grounds and completion of conservation projects. Success in this position contributes to a well-maintained grounds and outdoor recreation area as well as improving water conservation and the environment. CONTACTS Contacts are typically with supervisors, managers, co-workers, other college personnel, and members of the general public. Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, improve communication. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is typically performed while typically standing, stooping, walking, bending or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and objects and occasionally lifts heavy objects, climbs ladders and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. The work is typically performed in a stockroom or warehouse, greenhouse and outdoors. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery with moving parts. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc. SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
This position will supervise, direct and maintain work records for YCC Grounds Maintenance Workers.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematical calculations. Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of the Grounds Maintenance Worker position and possess an interest in environmental conservation, water conservation, usually associated with one to two years of experience or service.
