Job Description: As part of Pine Technical and Community College's commitment to student success and ongoing institutional effectiveness, this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating retention-based outreach and academic support initiatives for a diverse student population through Customized Training Solutions ( CTS ). The position will provide academic and career direction to current and prospective students, with an emphasis on relationship building between the student and advisor. In addition, the position coordinates and facilitates the admission, retention, and job placement of students, with a primary focus on serving those who are underrepresented, such as students of color or generational poverty. This could be required to meet specific grants received for CTS . This position provides academic and career seeking direction, employment training, and a process to guide students on matters related to application, registration, readiness assessments, retention, tutoring, emergency funding, and other supportive services for student success. This position will act as the direct contact and liaison for the student, CTS , and Pine faculty and staff. This position will also track job placement of the student and employment success after credentials are received.
Required Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications Associates Degree in a related field with two years of professional level experience in interpreting policies and procedures which support academic, financial or career advising, student or academic affairs, or adult developmental education. Demonstrated independent decision-making skills along with the ability to communicate and collaborate with others to successfully meet project and/or campus goals. Demonstrated knowledge of best practices and understanding of educating high-risk students from diverse backgrounds, academic/financial retention activities, and student academic advisement. Proficiency with a variety of word processing, database, and web-based applications sufficient to accurately collect data and create reports working efficiently. Professional experience in the application and integration of educational policies, procedures, and practices; customer/student service standards; and continuous quality improvement methods. Interpersonal skills sufficient to provide prompt, welcoming, courteous, and accurate information to stakeholders in person, on the phone, through email and other methods of communication. Leadership skills to create, organize, and offer programing, and analyze and interpret results. Valid driver's license to conform to Minnesota State vehicle use criteria and consent to a motor vehicle records check. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or Bachelor's degree in progress) in Counseling, Student Development/Affairs, Psychology, Business, Human Resources, Public Administration, Social Work, Education, Sociology, or similar discipline. Extensive knowledge of college policies and procedures, courses and programs including an understanding of course descriptions, curriculum, syllabi, financial aid, records, registration, and other academic resources including financial aid, to assist applicants and students in making sound educational and career decisions. Experience with a student record system such as ISRS ; as well as other data tools, such as Workforce One. Familiarity with Desire 2 Learn (D2L), and other academic technology. Experience with grant and project development, execution, management, and assessment. Experience executing a holistic approach of appreciative and/or financial aid advising to diverse populations with an emphasis on student success and retention. Extensive knowledge of state and federal regulatory laws such as the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act ( FERPA ) and MN Governmental Data Privacy Act ( MGDPA ). Three or more years of experience within higher education student services preferably in Customized Training in the Minnesota State College and Universities system. Ability to speak another language in addition to English. Other Requirements: In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (Minnesota State) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
