GENERAL SUMMARY The Wellness Court Coordinator is responsible for the management and coordination of the affairs of the Nisqually Healing to Wellness Court. This position is responsible for independently planning, assigning, and carrying out of program projects in compliance with policies, procedures, and legal requirements of the Nisqually Healing to Wellness Court. The Wellness Court Coordinator is responsible for administrative and supervisory functions within the department such as the development and implementation of new policies, procedures, and techniques to facilitate the complex duties and issues of the Nisqually Healing to Wellness Court. The Wellness Court Coordinator delegates and coordinates the activities and efforts of the Healing to Wellness Court Staff. The Wellness Court Coordinator is responsible for making timely and independent decisions regarding work priorities while fulfilling the legal responsibilities of the Nisqually Tribal Healing to Wellness Court. Work is performed under the guidance and supervision of the Nisqually Court Administrator. The Wellness Court Coordinator will make recommendations for new court service opportunities and implement accordingly. The Wellness Court coordinator will work interdepartmentally within the Nisqually Tribal Network to connect clients with additional services. The Wellness Court Coordinator shall also be responsible for promoting awareness and education regarding the Program and will act as a liaison with Federal, State, and Tribal representatives, as necessary.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Work cooperatively with attorneys, probation, treatment providers, and the healing to wellness team to review and evaluation applications for court services. Assists in the application process and coordination services for the Nisqually Healing to Wellness Court participants and Nisqually service providers. Assists participants to ensure they comply with court ordered services. plans and coordinates all functions of the Healing to Wellness Court including receiving filings of pleadings, documents, and applications. Monitors, evaluates, and records client progress with respect to treatment goals and collaborates with counselors, medical providers, and probation officers to plan and coordinate treatment based on the participant's needs. Refers clients to needed community resources such as housing, vocational training, high school equivalency course, public assistance, mental and physical health services, and/or other services to assist in the recovery of court participants. Collects information and takes detailed notes updating files for each meeting or appointment to document treatment progress making sure to note missed appointments while documenting treatment milestones. Monitors court participants compliance with court orders and reports information regularly to the Nisqually Healing to Wellness Court team. Identifies opportunities to improve court services. Makes recommendations for new services that the court may provide. Analyzes, reviews, and provides data collection in preparation of monthly reports. Makes special effort to coordinate with the Wellness Court Judge to meet the expectations of the court and provide superior service. Assists in monitoring and coordinating the Nisqually Healing to Wellness Court budget. Establishes goals and objectives for the upcoming fiscal year, develops project workloads, identifies opportunities to improve court services, and provides recommendations to the Court Administrator and Wellness Court Judge.
Develops, maintains, implements, and enforces policies and procedures as set forth in the Nisqually Healing to Wellness Court. Maintains case numbers, dockets, court calendars, dispositions, and case files of the Nisqually Healing to Wellness Court. Provides clerical and technical support to the Court Administrator and Tribal Judges. Prepares and edits routine correspondence, memoranda, orders, jury instructions, notices, dockets, judgements, executions, warrants, affidavits, and any other forms/documents as necessary. Develops edits, creates, and maintains Nisqually Healing to Wellness court forms. Oversees all financial transactions and provides supervisor with monthly financial Certifies official copies of the court. Attends workshops, conferences, and classes to increase professional knowledge. Assists in community projects as assigned by supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in social services, criminal justice, and/or legal services OR four (4) years of relevant experience. Four (4) years of relevant experience working in tribal, state, and/or local court systems. Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test. Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance policy. Must be bondable. Must be willing to become a notary within six months of being hired. SUPERVISION This position does NOT supervise.
COMPETENCIES · Knowledge of principles and practices of tribal court systems, tribal law, and legal terminology. · Knowledge of accounting principles, budgets, and management practices. · Knowledge and skills relating to principles and practices of employee supervision. · Knowledge of the Nisqually Tribal Code as applicable. · Knowledge of principles and procedures of record keeping and reporting, including internal case file management. · Knowledge of Nisqually Tribal Community. · Ability to communicate well orally and in writing. · Ability to work under stressful conditions and/or potentially violent situations and manage difficult people. · Ability to meet strict deadlines. · Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, forecast project consequences, and implement recommendations in support of court goals. · Ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply federal and tribal policies, procedures, laws, and regulations. · Ability to exercise good judgement, flexibility, and creativity while being culturally sensitive. · Ability to work cooperatively with groups and individuals while managing a large caseload in an efficient and effective manner. · Ability to present clear and concise information in a courtroom setting. · Ability to give oral presentations to large and small groups.
