Key Accountabilities Weld in flat, vertical, or overhead positions that may involve heights. Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded. Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding. Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material. Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications. Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment. Gas tungsten arc welding is a plus Read technical drawings in both 2D and 3D versions. Read and follow written and verbal instructions. Requirements Possess exceptional accuracy and attention to detail Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to bend, stoop, twist at the waist Able to climb stairs and ladders Must be flexible on work hours and shifts Excellent written and verbal communications skills Mechanical capability required Strong knowledge of the importance of safety, and place it in the highest regard Strong work ethic and positive attitude. Strong focus on completing tasks in order of priority. Strong focus on housekeeping and shop cleanliness. Work Environment – Work is executed in a repair facility environment that is not climate controlled. Noise levels may reach decibels requiring hearing protection.
Basic Qualifications Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent 3-5 years welding and fabrication experience Knowledge of MIG and Stick, preference for TIG (GTAW) Knowledge of fabrication in a shop environment Desirable Qualifications Welding schools / training / certification
