Job Responsibilities
Build new websites and web-based applications, primarily utilizing Content Management Systems like Drupal as well as PHP, JavaScript/jQuery, CSS, HTML, and SQL databases
Maintain existing websites and web-based applications
Test and troubleshoot bugs and other issues with websites and applications, including mobile websites
Provide training and technical support to website editors
Interface with IT staff such as server administrators to resolve web server issues and improve the performance and functionality of websites and applications
Develop and maintain sign language skills minimally to the recommended level for professional staff

Required Qualifications
Experience: 2-4 years hands-on web design and development experience with proven success in a variety of technical projects
2-4 years experience working in a collaborative technical environment with users and web developers
Skills: High proficiency in writing CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and HTML/XML/XHTML code.
Proven ability to develop database-driven websites and web applications using PHP and SQL databases.
Experience developing websites with Content Management Systems such as Drupal and/or PHP frameworks such as Laravel.
High proficiency with web design tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
Strong attention to detail, especially in regard to web development essentials such as usability, accessibility and security.
Strong understanding of web security threats and ability to write secure code to mitigate those threats.
Excellent analytical, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to learn new technical, functional and business concepts relating to the applications supported by the development team without formal training.
Strong communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to work directly with developers, IT staff, content editors/providers, and end users.
Ability to receive general guidance on an objective and to achieve that objective with minimal managerial guidance.
Ability to analyze a business problem and evaluate the impact of potential solutions from both a business and technical perspective.
Ability to present technical concepts in an appropriate manner that can be understood by non-technical colleagues and end users.
Significant experience programming responsive, database-driven web-based applications that work equally well across all platforms, browsers, operating systems, and mobile devices.
Strong user interface design skills.
Ability to write well-documented and standards-compliant code.

Job Summary
This is a one-year position; renewal beyond one year will be dependent upon obtaining external funding.
Within the Center for Access Technology (CAT,) the Web Developer/Programmer builds and maintains new and existing websites, web-based applications for NTID Center on Access Technology products/projects, and other programs/purposes.
