TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-time (19 hours/week). On-site at Eastern Connecticut State University in Willimantic, CT.Subject to budget availability and the needs of the University, this position can be renewed each year.
POSITIONSUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of University Relations, the Web Design Assistant will work closely with the WebsiteManager and Office of University Relations team to advance the University's web-related goals. The Web Design Assistant will design,edit, maintain, and ensure the accessibility of web pages for the University website. The Web Design Assistant will also work directly withfaculty and staff to provide technical assistance in maintaining various web pages, including: academic department pages; administrativeoffice pages; and Student Activity club and intramural pages.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists indeveloping and maintaining University web pages through the University's Cascade content management system. Designs, edits,and maintains University web pages in alignment with the University's graphic/brand standards and to ensure consistency acrossEastern's website. Provides technical assistance and content advice to academic and administrative departments for websitedevelopment/management. Works closely with faculty and staff to ensure the accessibility of Eastern web pages in compliance withthe Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and national accessibility standards. Keeps up-to-date with current web technology andtrends, such as dynamic web pages, mobile applications, and social media. Implements approved upgrades to ensure the Eastern website iscompetitive with technical and design standards of other college and university websites. Assists in the integration ofdepartment-level and club-level social media content onto University web pages through a third-party feed. Retains and updates records ofUniversity-based social media accounts for social media directory. Using SEO data, Google Analytics and other metrics, producestimely analytical reports on website activity and effectiveness. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree in computer science, web design, visual art/graphic design,communication, or related field required. Two years of related web development/design work experience Familiarity withindustry-standard web design software and coding languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript). Ability to design on all devices (i.e. desktop,tablet, mobile). Familiarity with web-based forms, RSS feeds, and social Familiarity with ADA Familiarity withSEO and Google Analytics to produce reports and actionable web insights. Ability to work in fast-paced academic environment andmanage multiple priorities. Ability to work independently. Excellent organizational, visual, and interpersonalskills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in computer science, web design,visual art/graphic design, communication, or related field. Demonstrated software/ technical skills in Adobe Suite to assist inediting and posting photos to University web pages (Photoshop, Illustrator). Familiarity with Cascade content managementsystem. Google Analytics certification. Demonstrated experience in accessibility remediation software (i.e. DubBot). Familiarity with web design software and coding languages (ASP, PHP, SQL, Java Velocity code).
