Job Description and Duties Under the general direction of the Information Technology Supervisor II in the Application Development and Maintenance Office - Application Support Unit I, the Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) mainly performs functions in the domain of Software Engineering. The position develops and supports custom and modified-off-the-shelf IT systems used for the consolidated application and compliance monitoring. The ITS I works cooperatively with program staff and management in the Educational Data Management Division (EDMD), providing software development and analysis services.
Performs system development and support for custom and modified-off-the-shelf information technology (IT) systems using standard system development lifecycle methodologies (e.g. Agile) and following industry-standard development and security practices. Implements, tests, deploys (release management) and configures IT systems (custom, commercial-off-the-shelf, etc.), including all system components (e.g. web, desktop, server, API, databases, etc.). Enhance, maintain, resolve and track defects of existing IT systems. Develops and maintains IT system documentation (e.g. design, coding, testing, etc.).
Analyzes and documents business processes as part of the system development lifecycle. Includes the coordination and consultation with program office staff and management to identify, analyze, and document business, functional, and technical requirements, necessary for IT system development. Develops research analysis reports related to technology solutions or products.

Working Conditions TELEWORK OPTION
Hybrid: This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
• Experience maintaining and supporting custom web applications using the Microsoft technology stack and/or the Salesforce environment.
• Experience in database query and stored procedure development and performance optimization.
