Control treatment plant operations and produce potable water for residential, commercial and industrial use.Key AccountabilitiesStarts agitators to mix chemicals and allow impurities to settle to bottom of tank.May perform periodic inspections and observe mechanical electrical, instrumentation devices in operation and check for abnormal conditions.Repairs and lubricates machines.Dumps or controls feeds specified amounts of chemical, such as chlorine, ammonia, and lime into water or adjusts automatic devices that admit specified amounts of chemicals into tanks to disinfect, deodorize, and clarify water.Monitors panelboardRecords data such as residual content of chemicals, water turbidity and water pressure.May utilize telemetry systems to monitor water tank levels and water pressure and adjust booster pumps to maximize system effectiveness in delivery of treated waterUtilizes electrical and instrumentation measuring instruments such as voltmeter, ohmmeter, telemetry calibrator, pressure calibrator etc.Dismantles devices to gain access to internal parts to adjust ,remove, or replace.Experience/EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredExperience with SCADA systemAbility to perform routine maintenance on SCADA controlled equipmentBasic computer skillsSuccessfully complete and pass company provided training/safety coursesCertifications and LicensesWV State Class III or IV Water Operator License is requiredValid active, state's driver license and ability to pass motor vehicle backgroundWork EnvironmentFrequently works in outside weather conditionsHours/ScheduleFull-timeDay shift (8am-4pm) and night shift (12am-8am); Two days on night shift, three days on day shiftOn-call responsibility as neededCompetenciesChampions safetyCollaboratesCultivates innovationCustomer obsessedDrives ResultsNimble learningWest Virginia American Water is seeking a full-time Water Treatment Operator to join our team in True, WV. This vital role helps keep clean and safe water flowing to our local customers. Based out of our Bluestone surface water plant, the operator will serve as the 'eyes and ears' of the plant and oversee the day-to-day treatment process. You will make process changes, perform maintenance and calibrations, run water quality samples and more.
