This position as a Wastewater Engineer is one of full-time employment. The Wastewater Engineer will oversee projects from inception through completion while managing project particulars including budget, technical design, drawing production, safety standards, and deadlines. Employee will also contribute to the compilation and submission of permit applications to various entities and ensure all regulatory requirements are met. Assignments will be conducted in the office at Providence's Baton Rouge location.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) :
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other related fields required. Minimum of five years of experience with execution of various engineering projects. Louisiana Professional Engineering License preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with strong emphasis on team relations. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks. Ability to follow instructions and work independently. Ability to exercise initiative and innovative thinking. ATTRIBUTES: Self-Directed – Shows initiative and the ability to organize oneself. Problem-Solver – Capable of analyzing complex issues, identifying root causes, and proposing effective solutions. Planning / Organizing – Able to prioritize and plan work activities efficiently; able to organize and manage various projects in their entirety. Dependable – Follows through on commitments; reliable resource for clients and junior staff. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage larger projects from proposal phase through closeout, including preparing cost estimates, scheduling, design and drawing preparation, surveying and permitting, client interaction, reviewing and approving invoices, and closing out projects. Provide guidance and project management oversight to ensure projects are completed and delivered, safely, on time and on budget. Oversee and analyze, survey operations to guide construction including analyzing survey reports, maps, and other data to plan and execute projects. Compile and submit permit applications to local, state, and federal agencies verifying that projects comply with various regulations. Use design software to plan and design hydraulic systems, waste/water containment facilities, transportation systems, and site development in line with industry and government standards. Manage the design, construction, repair, maintenance, and replacement of public and private infrastructure. Present findings to the public and clients on topics such as bid proposals, environmental impact statements, and various project designs. Develop and manage various engineering and environmental projects. Responsible for maintaining existing client relationships. Ensure opportunities to work with personnel in other Providence offices is supported and encouraged where appropriate. Manage safety compliance with all client and internal requirements/training. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: Ability to travel occasionally and on short notice. Ability to walk long distances. Ability to lift 30 lbs. Ability to work outdoors in variable weather conditions and on varied terrain, sometimes for extended periods of time.
