WASTEWATER COLLECTION SYSTEMS LEAD Grade 16 - Includes comprehensive benefit package!
The wastewater treatment division is accepting applications for the position of WW Collection System Lead. In this position, you will be a working lead to three collection system operators and you will serve as part of the wastewater treatment division leadership team.
Typical duties include:
Trains and assigns day-to-day work to collection team members; Develops and maintains a preventative maintenance program; Cleans, cameras, monitors, and inspects infrastructure and related systems; Responds to reports of sewer back-up with courtesy and professionalism to help identify the cause of the back-up and assist homeowners when the problem is the City's responsibility; Trains on and enforces employee safety standards; Generates reports, maintains records, and performs other administrative tasks relating to collection system issues; and, Works with the Superintendent to address personnel matters, resolve complex issues, establish short- and long-range plans, and complete special projects. This is a highly skilled operator who is able to perform both the general day-to-day operational matters and is able to address non-routine issues with limited supervisor guidance. This position is physical in nature and will require confined space entry. You will be required to serve in an on-call rotation and cross train/cover in plant operations as needed.
Our ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
High School Diploma (or equivalent); Utah Certified level III Collections Operator and five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience directly related to collection system; and, obtain Utah Certified Level IV DRC within one year of assignment to position (or next reasonable testing period as specified by the Superintendent). Up to 2 years of additional education may be substituted for an equivalent amount of operating experience; The Collection Operator career ladder series includes a competency grid that outlines various competencies, abilities, certifications, and training that must be achieved for operator career ladder advancement. Ideally, the Collection Operator IV/Lead will meet the criteria established for Operator III and below at time of hire but we recognize that some specific training may need to be attained after hire and within the time period established by the Superintendent. Additionally, the Collection Operator IV/Lead should meet the criteria established for advancement to Operator IV within one year of assignment to position; Demonstrate leadership skills; and, A positive commitment to the services rendered by the department to the residents of Tooele City.
