The Packing and Shipping Technician participates in a variety of activities that includes packing carbon black, loading/unloading railcars, and loading/unloading pallets of material. Operates material handling equipment (bag packers, IBC loaders, robot, etc.) and follows quality and safety standards. Packs carbon black into bags using packing equipment according to work instructions Move loads and packaging materials using a fork lift Move freight trailers on the yard using a mule Load finished product into freight trucks according to customer instructions Load railcars and IBC's using bulk loading equipment Troubleshoots and perform minor repairs and routine maintenance as necessary on packaging machinery Report any equipment in the packaging area that needs maintenance to the foreman Complete paperwork and forms as needed Follow all safety rules and procedures Participates in scheduled safety meetings and completes safety training requirements Maintain a clean and safe work environment in the packing and shipping areas Supports efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care® Management System in line with the requirements of the RC14001® technical specification, as applicable to the site/region This role works an 8-hour shift and is eligible for overtime High School diploma or equivalency Candidates must complete an online candidate assessment administered by the company 3 - 5 years industrial experience Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals Must be able to apply commonsense understanding to carry-out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds Required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, knee, crouch, or crawl Must be able to drive a fork-lift Must have good computer skills Must work different shift schedules and overtime hours Must be physically capable to wear a respirator, as deemed necessary for certain job tasks Must have mechanical aptitude and be able to troubleshoot and problem solve equipment Required to work in outside weather conditions and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold and extreme heat Must be a team player and self-motivated
