Department Information This is a temporary position. Applications will be considered from Colorado residents This is a paid temporary position lasting up to 9 months with intent to hire a permanent full-time position in the future given successful performance and available funding. Although health benefits are not provided, it comes with PERA benefits and allows an opportunity to gain valuable experience for future openings. This position is offered at $20.00 to $22.00/hour range and is paid biweekly.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The Colorado Department of Public Safety (CDPS) consists of five Divisions:
Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
Colorado State Patrol (CSP)
Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ)
Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC)
Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHSEM)
The Executive Director's Office (EDO) provides administrative and management services to the operating divisions of the department.
Description of Job ABOUT THE WORK UNIT The Logistics Services Section manages the department's facilities, fleet, and public safety materials through customer focused actions which empower the members of the Department to safeguard lives. There are four major branches that comprise the section: Materials Management Branch (Warehouse), Fleet Management Branch, Facilities Management Branch and the Wildland Fire Logistics Branch. Members of these four branches, plus the Logistics Services headquarters section, provide daily production and support for the equipment and infrastructure necessary to sustain operations for the divisions assigned to the Colorado Department of Public Safety.


The Wildland Fire Logistics Branch (WFLB) manages and executes logistics operations focused on the requirements of the Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC). WFLB manages two federal excess property programs for the State of Colorado wildland firefighting capability, the Supply Unit (truck part inventory, uniforms, firefighter supply cache), Communications Unit, Fleet Unit and Fire Equipment Shop.


JOB DESCRIPTION Warehouse Specialist duties involve the systematic receipt, storage, maintenance, issuance and tracking of fire related equipment, supplies, uniforms and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment or Bunker Gear). The position performs asset management support services for the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control by regulating control of consumable and durable inventory goods including, but not limited to: uniforms, PPE, medical supplies, firefighting equipment and any other supplies or service needs. This position reports to the Logistics Branch Chief.



POSITION DUTIES Establishes layout of supply area to include space for receiving and distribution, cleaning, minor repairs, storage, fitting and ensures adequate space for expansion Inspects and receives incoming shipments of supplies and verifies quantities and quality with invoices Assists customers by loading and distributing warehouse products Forecasts, plans and determines supplies and equipment needed for operational requirements by collaborating with WFLB Chief Develops reorder points (ROP) and maintains quantities of supplies and equipment at an effective level to prevent out of stock items and shortages Maintains and issues items from inventory such as uniforms, medical supplies, PPE and firefighter supplies to DFPC members ensuring internal and external ordering processes are followed Ensures new employees are measured and fitted for uniforms and PPE Complies, tracks and maintains inventory and accountability records for all supplies and equipment received and issued to DFPC members using databases. Controls access to the warehouse including medical supply storage Rotates medical supplies based on product expiration dates to take full advantage of the inventory and reduce costs Facilitates the return and repair of damaged, failing or faulty inventory and refurbishes and launders equipment, uniforms and supplies Performs clerical duties related to maintaining supply inventory and operates a computer with various software systems including Microsoft Excel, Google platform and other asset management software systems. Corresponds both verbally and in writing with appropriate individuals regarding the status of requisitions and orders of supplies and equipment. Must be able to analyze information from a variety of sources, assess a situation, use sound judgement and take appropriate action. WORK ENVIRONMENT Expected work schedule is Monday through Friday ******** This position may be required to work after hours, on weekends and holidays to support emerging incidents Work is performed inside or outside in close quarters in storage areas or aisles, on ramps, or on platforms that may be hot, damp, cold or poorly lighted. Exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, etc. Work may involve exposure to solvents, paints, metal pigments, asbestos, dust, synthetic resins in body fillers and finishes, cleaning or restoring products or dyes for leather/vinyl interiors or vehicle tops, lubricants/greases, fluids, antifreeze, and detergents with solvent cleaners. Potential chemical exposures include: aromatic amines, benzene, paint thinners, betanaphthylamine, rubber and rubber products, petroleum or its products, coal gas, chlorinated compounds, nitro or nitroso compounds, organic solvents, listed metals, sulphate-containing compounds, and antifreeze. Occasionally may travel throughout the State of Colorado Must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45 lbs. independently and objects over 45 lbs. with assistance Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION) Must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire. High school diploma A valid Colorado driver's license. OR

Demonstrated proficiency on position competencies may substitute for the minimum qualifications. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Sufficient work related experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job (experience with fire, military or law enforcement equipment, uniforms, PPE and medical supplies). Experience with asset management, inventory management or warehouse management. Proficient computer skills using programs such as Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel, Google platform and asset management software. Forklift certification CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Requires successful completion of a background investigation that will include a polygraph. Applicants will also be required to successfully pass a medical exam and drug screen (including marijuana) prior to employment. This position is subject to ongoing random drug testing during employment. Ability to travel occasionally throughout the State of Colorado Ability to obtain forklift certification within 2 months Must be a resident of Colorado
