Job Description
Responsible for and oversees the Shared Services Distribution supply chain functions for the System with responsibilities for managing and controlling System perpetual inventory location(s), automation, customer service, material systems and financial controls. UMMS is seeking a warehouse manager that is able to pick, pack, and ship product to our hospitals and other healthcare locations. Places special emphasis coordinating the receipt, intermediate storage and movement of materials to UMMS hospitals and support locations. Provides reporting and analysis of key dashboard metrics related to core general stores business, services excellence and productivity. Provides oversight and direction for the Inventory, Receiving, Par- Level Management process. Routinely meets with end-users to refine and optimize the Inventory/Par process. Implements the use of technology i.e. Infor MMIS System. Optimizes inventory management across the System to include Hand Held Technology solutions. Develops/implements management strategies that are in direct alignment with UMMS strategic direction
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

* Establishes operating policies and procedures for general stores, ensures security, safety and delivery standards are met. Protects self, co-workers and facility by following approved policies and procedure to ensure employee and patient safety and a safe work environment.
* Manages and facilitates the fulfillment of hospital replenishment from UMMS Warehouse.
* Ensures the accuracy of receiving, storage and distribution of all inventory and direct outside purchases.
* Establishes safeguards to protect materials from damage, unnecessary obsolescence due to poor stock rotation and theft.
* Demonstrates responsibility for personal development by participating in continuing education offerings and department/hospital activities.
* Attends educational meetings and workshops, reads professional publications, establishes personal networks, and participates in professional societies.
* Coordinates general stores processes and serves as the liaison with the hospital materials management personnel and other staff on the UMMS campuses and affiliates.
* Assumes responsibility for planning, developing, implementing and managing the budgetary process for area of responsibility. Able to understand and explain any budget variances.
* Creates policies and procedures for all related workflow activities and performance. Trains department personnel on policies.
* Completes departmental analyses as requested by Director utilizing various analytical tools. Analyzes material flow and recommends actions to improve productivity and efficiency.
* Presents findings and recommendations in timely manner. Manages all departmental projects utilizing various project management tools.
* Understands and fully maximizes use of ERP system. Drives department toward increased utilization and functionality.
* Develops and maintains strong customer service relationships. Ensures issues are quickly and appropriately resolved and makes internal process changes when necessary.
* Maintains metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, and training and safety records. Preferred experience with demand forecasting and Par level.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field or 5 years of equivalent experience.
* Five years progressive leadership experience in materials management with a minimum of three years Hospital experience required. Experience in Supply Chain/Materials Management with Infor or other MMIS systems in a multi-site medical center preferred
* Experience and knowledge of current financial and non-financial measures utilized in the healthcare industry preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Must have working knowledge of the operational component of Inventory Management, Receiving, Fulfillment measures and financial performance and analysis in a complex organization.
* Knowledge of Business Software Applications (Excel, Access, etc.)
* Knowledge of (demonstrated use preferred) Infor Inventory Control Module.
* Knowledge of Financial Reporting, ability to disseminate data to customers.
* Must have ability to commit to Continuous Improvement philosophy; support a customer service environment and demonstrate team oriented focus.
* Must have excellent Problem Solving and Analytical Thinking skills.
* Must demonstrate flexibility.
Working Conditions
* Weekend, shift work, holiday, on-call, and may be require work beyond normal tour of duty to complete projects, meet deadlines, or respond to emergencies.
* Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 10 lbs.
* Must have or obtain, in first 2 month of employment, certified forklift operator.
* Work is performed in various environments within UMMS. These environments include, but are not limited to the following: Warehouse, standard office environment, Data Center/closets environment, or Healthcare environment.
* Periodic traveling out of town with overnight stays to obtain required training, education, or certification may be required.
* Work may include regular travel to and from the various affiliated institutions within the Medical System.
* Work may be required in a Healthcare facility which the observance of "Universal Precautions" is mandated. Universal Precautions involves the wearing of protective clothing/equipment and the observance of safe work practice.
* Work is physical, high demand, and fast paced.
