Job DescriptionUnder the direction of the food production manager and assistant director for Southgate Center, provides primary working supervision for a large commercial warehouse to include its daily operations and personnel. Ensures that a full range of warehouse functions occurs including receiving, shipping, issuing, ordering and restocking, inventory management, and proper storing of products, supplies and equipment. Inspects and verifies all shipping and receiving documents and requisitions. Maintains inventory records using an automated food management system. Organizes the staging and delivery of products from the warehouse, Pre-Prep, Bakeshop and marketing department to all Dining Services venues. Ensures that all operators are trained and or certified in the safe and proper operation of all vehicles, fork lifts, reach trucks, and man-lift equipment. Provides transportation service support to Homefield Farm and other partners in Student Affairs.Required Qualifications• Experience managing a large, detailed inventory with bulk receiving, staging, and distribution of supplies and goods.• Prior experience supervising employees including scheduling, assigning work, training, evaluating performance, hiring, and taking disciplinary action when required.• Considerable experience in and knowledge of a warehouse and/or stockroom, shipping and receiving, record keeping procedures, and inventory control procedures and processes.• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently.• Knowledge of storage/handling techniques and safety regulations.• Ability to operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and reach trucks.• Experience with inventory reports and spreadsheets, requisitions, invoices, and shipping logs.• Ability to communicate effectively with personnel both internal and external to the department.Preferred Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent related training and experience.• Experience working with an automated inventory management system.Pay Band4Appointment TypeRegularSalary InformationSalary $45,000 - $55,000 and commensurate with experienceReview DateMarch 4, 2024Additional InformationThe successful candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check as well as a driving check with a safe driving record.About Virginia TechDedicated to its motto,Ut Prosim(That I May Serve), Virginia Tech pushes the boundaries of knowledge by taking a hands-on, transdisciplinary approach to preparing scholars to be leaders and problem-solvers.
