Position Summary: This position directs the Wings Volunteer Program. Additionally, this position assists in supportive activities whether one-on-one or in groups and represents Wings and promotes ambassadorship.  Work is performed under the general direction of the Executive Director of Wings Foundation.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesCoordinates all Wings Volunteer Program activities. This involves directing, assigning, monitoring, evaluating individuals and the general program.Recruits and trains volunteers.Creates and maintains volunteer database including hours served.Develops and publishes monthly volunteer newsletter.Plans and implements annual Volunteer Awards Celebration.Provides patient, family, volunteer support pertaining to anyone with cancer.Builds relationships and liaisons with large/small, private/public/individuals with similar goals.Speaks to educate the public about cancer. Represents Wings and cancer care providers to give hope to those touched by disease.Interfaces with Nursing staff, Admissions, Medical staff regarding follow patient progress and/or needs and to track incoming/outgoing patients. Also interfaces with individual volunteers, community agencies and private groups.Respects the dignity and confidentiality of patients.Maintains a good attendance record and report on time for work.Maintains a professional attitude and appearance.Complies with clinic safety policy and procedures.Possesses good communication skills that lend to a team oriented work environment.Attends staff meetings as scheduled.Assists with training and orientation of new employees as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications/Experience: Bachelor's degree in health or social work field and one to two years related experience; or four to five years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  A background in Human Resources or Adult Education background preferred.
Must have excellent organization and follow-up skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent problem-solving skills; ability to organize and prioritize work assignments; ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; ability to analyze situations and respond in a timely manner; ability to participate in multi-functional teams; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within The West Clinic; must be proficient in computer applications including word processing and e-mail.  Additional hours may be required.
Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel: Typical clinical environment with moderate noise level.Ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hand/wrist, climb, stoop or crouch, talk, hear, see for extended periods of time.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, government regulations, common scientific and technical journals and legal documents. Ability to respond verbally and in writing to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, large employee groups, and/or public groups.Ability to engage in therapeutic communication (i.e. active listening, helping skills)Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.  Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style.  Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical or complex instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.Ability to provide possible solutions and/or explore varieties of human experience.Ability to lift up to 10lbs.Some travel may be required.
