Volunteer CoordinatorMinistry: St. Lucy Food ProjectPrimary Office: ManassasHours per Week: 40 (non-exempt)Submit applications on line only:Telework Available: Hybrid limited.Starting Hourly Rate: $23.32Position Description:The St. Lucy Food project supports local pantries in the fight against hunger and food insecurity. The Volunteer Coordinator supports this mission by being involved in all aspects of the St. Lucy operation. Volunteers are a critical part of the St. Lucy Mission. We are seeking an individual with passion to help move our critical mission forward.Position Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Plan for all warehouse volunteer activity. This includes firsthand food: sorting, stacking, packing, driving, and distributing.Recruit, train and manage volunteers who can safely and autonomously support every aspect of the Food Pantry operation. Including facility management on weekends, driving- delivering food donations, packing, and sorting food donations.Supervise large groups of volunteers: religious service programs and local high school partners.Ensure volunteer compliance with St. Lucy code of conduct, policies, and procedures.Ensure volunteers are integrated into St. Lucy activities, programs.Recognize the contributions of volunteers: recognition events, letters of appreciation, etc.Other Duties include but are not limited to:Interact cordially with staff, donors, volunteers, and community partners. Create a welcoming environment for all stakeholders.Submit required reports. Meet data tracking and entry obligations.Create job descriptions for volunteers. Promote opportunities and understanding of service hours expectations.Manage appreciation letters to donors.Promote the mission of St. Lucy with existing stakeholders. Outreach to develop new stakeholder and donor relationships.Manage Woodstock hygiene distribution volunteers.Manage partnership with Commissioned by Christ: gleaning events in the Northern NeckQualifications & Skills:High Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and MS Access, data base entry required.Must have a valid US Driver's license with 3 years driving experience and a safe driving record.This role is 40 hours a week. Flexibility needed for frequent evenings and weekends.Strong written and spoken communication skills.Ability to remain calm under pressure.Education and Experience:Minimum of 1 year experience with volunteer coordination: recruitment, management, and training to include coordinating adult and school age volunteers.Experience with food distribution or food pantries a plusSocial services experience a plus.Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and experience.BENEFITS: Vacation, Sick, Paid FML*, 16 paid holidays in 2024, Medical, Dental, Vision, Pension, Employee Assistance Program, Diocesan Tuition Reimbursement* K-12. Closed between Christmas and New Years. *Physical Demands:The employee is regularly required to lift to 40 pounds using such items as hand trucks, dollies, or carts. Must be able to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to use a computer keyboard, and handle bags of food; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Required to stoop, kneel, or crouch and climb a ladder. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
