**Position Summary:**
We are seeking a dynamic Visual Media Intern to join our team, working closely with the Marketing Coordinator within our Communications Department. This internship offers invaluable real-world experience for individuals eager to refine their skills and make a tangible impact. As a Visual Media Intern, you'll immerse yourself in various media formats, requiring self-motivation and a proactive approach. Expect to engage in a range of tasks outlined below under Essential Duties.
**Essential Duties - Knowledge - Skills - Abilities:**
- Attend on-site events, capturing compelling photos and videos that narrate captivating stories. Additionally, contribute to real-time social media updates with engaging visual content.
- While in-office, focus on tasks such as organizing footage, enhancing photos, editing video content, and crafting marketing materials utilizing software like Photoshop, InDesign, and Canva.
- Participate in city-related events or staged photo opportunities as needed, ensuring comprehensive coverage for our department's media needs.
- Assist in managing social media platforms, graphic design projects, and website updates.
- Proficiency with Windows OS and Adobe Suite or equivalent software is essential.
- Willingness to learn and adapt, meeting set goals and deadlines throughout the internship.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and uphold respectful conduct at all times.
- Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
**Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:**
- Work settings may vary between indoor and outdoor environments, occasionally exposed to inclement weather.
- Collaboration with team members and close proximity to others may be necessary.
- Some assignments may involve working in environments with elevated noise levels.
- Ability to carry equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Position requires frequent sitting, standing, kneeling, walking, talking, and listening.
**Use of Technology & Equipment:**
- Regular use of computer equipment and various camera devices.
- Basic understanding of camera functionalities for both photography and videography.
- Familiarity with design software such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Canva, or willingness to learn.
- Access to a mobile device like a smartphone or tablet.
**Contact & Supervision:**
- Direct reporting to the Marketing Coordinator within the Communications Department.
- Collaboration with other departments for project coordination may be required.
- Interaction with the general public may occur based on project needs.

**Minimum Requirements:**
**Education:**
- Currently enrolled, graduating, or recently graduated from a two- or four-year college with a degree in Photography, Visual Journalism, or a related field.
- If pursuing an advanced degree, must not hold a current assistantship, fellowship, or similar commitment to their school.
**Certification/License:**
- Must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in West Virginia.
- A valid driver's license is required.
**Experience:**
- Less than one year of relevant experience is required.

- Demonstrated creativity, innovation, and adaptability.
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn.
- Working knowledge of photography, videography, Photoshop, InDesign, and Canva.
